Started work on my next project. Cowboys and Aliens a two coaster mashup. Wooden coaster with articulated cars (WC1) for the old west and an extended stand up twister coaster (EC1) for the aliens.
Will see how well I can blend the western with sci-fi.

Will paint the ground later, but I will be shooting for a semi dry sparse landscape with sage brush, wild wheat grass, cactus, scattered trees, some green some brown. The alien presence will be seen in some structures and a "hidden" outpost.
Need suggestions for the Park name, wood coaster name, & extended coaster name.
Will post on ride video for each ride for review and comment. I like what I have started but will consider modifying either coaster based on the reaction I get here.
Suggestion 1: custom support those coasters!
For names, go with "Billy the Kid" and "99th Red Balloon"
Custom supports are planned for. Will start on that once the layout is finalized. Still thinking on the colors for each track. May do Moby steel on the wood track & Big Burger Trestle on the steel track. I will at least explore the concept and see how it looks in a trial sandbox save.
Okay I have a name idea. Since the thread is called "(WIP) Cowboys and Aliens", call the wooden coaster "Cowboy", and the extended coaster "Alien". Good luck with this!
Doh!!! Seriously Chima? I'm looking for a not so obvious name set. While I was in the USAF I was stationed with 418th Aircraft Generation Squadron which supported the 15th Tactical Fighter Squadron "The Cottonpickers". They flew RF-4C reconnaissance missions, and we "Killed Them With Kodak".
The RF-4C aircraft I worked on would follow the A-10, F15 & F-16 aircraft and do photoruns of what those aircraft shot up at the target ranges.
I am thinking War Wagon or Stagecoach for the wood coaster.
Still trying to think of a name for the steel coaster.
Here is an update of the support work in progress. Where you see supports above or through the track that is a marker I am using as I place the caps, flanges, footers, & main supports. The teal footers are the markers where I will be building the wood support structure for the wood coaster.

Just throwing that out there.
Wooden coaster needs wooden supports.
It's worth it to take the time to do it right. Otherwise you're just building dueling steel coasters.

You are making nice progress. Anyway maybe you can share the video without having to download it from the links? Maybe downloading the video's to this site and just say work in progress. I'm not sure if everyone will be able to view your file if it is Windows Media Video. Just a thought.
