RE: Newport Pleasure Gardens - Announcing "Mine Trail", pg. 16 (8-1-11) - Fireball - Aug 7, 2011 All I have to say is, this park is amazing! What custom scenery did you use? RE: Newport Pleasure Gardens - Announcing "Mine Trail", pg. 16 (8-1-11) - gci2011 - Aug 8, 2011 Fireball: Thanks! The CS list is posted at the download link a few pages back. It's a lot of CS! --------------- Announcement 1987 (credit to RCInsider at SGW for the logo) Quote:Newport, RI - Local amusement park Newport Pleasure Gardens will give guests another reason to scream next year, with the addition of the Falcon roller coaster. Falcon is the park's third roller coaster, replacing the former Hill Runner roller coaster in the Mine Town section of the park. It is unique in that it is a suspended coaster, on which the cars hover below the track and are able to swing freely throughout the ride. Guests will climb an 90 foot lift hill straight out of the station, before dropping more than 75 feet and traversing several sharp turns and the natural hilly forest landscape. The train will ascend a second, 110 foot lift hill, before another 100 foot drop into a sweeping turn over the lake, followed by yet more twists, turns, and hills. Falcon will last approximately 2 minutes and will travel at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. A cost for the ride has not been released. Riders will be able to experience the thrills and adventure of Falcon when the park opens in May. ------------------ 1987 Season 10 Hey guys! Ten years... that's how long it's been since Newport Pleasure Gardens opened. What started with just a handfull of rides and a coaster has turned into a true vacation destination for people all over the Northeast! We're really proud of how far we've come, and we wanted to celebrate with an addition like no other: Falcon! Falcon opened today to great reception, and I had to get a few rides for myself. Check it all out! Before I jump to Falcon, here are some of the "finishing touches" that we added to Mine Trail. More rocks, trees, benches, and other things to liven up the midway. The real star of the show is Falcon, however. I managed to ride while the line was still short. Falcon features this unique "station fly through", where the train actually travels through the station above the guests! And, of course, the highlight of the ride is the drop over the lake! More on Falcon and the rest of the park soon! -Jay Jones RE: Newport Pleasure Gardens - Arrow Suspended Coaster, "Falcon" - gci2011 - Aug 10, 2011 ------------------- 1987 Season 10 Welcome back to the park! It's mid-June and the crowds are just starting to pick up for the summer. You wouldn't believe what Falcon has done for the park - this is the best attendance we've had since Inverter opened 7 years ago. I guess coasters are still guest favorites. Other than attendance, Falcon has really put us on the map. The media has jumped all over it, and we're doing better than ever. Let's hope this never ends! Falcon really is very spread out - it takes up almost double the area that Hill Runner did. Our first drop is thrilling enough... ...but the second drop is even bigger! Clarke Memorial Theatre will be hosting a local elementary school play tomorrow. As a courtesy, all families will get free admission for the day! I guess the guests love a little more than the park...! -Jay Jones RE: Newport Pleasure Gardens - Arrow Suspended Coaster, "Falcon" - DutchBros - Aug 10, 2011 It's cool to see an attendence to come for Falcon RE: Newport Pleasure Gardens - Arrow Suspended Coaster, "Falcon" - zach_gamer77 - Aug 11, 2011 More like Falcon PAWNCH!!! xD RE: Newport Pleasure Gardens - Arrow Suspended Coaster, "Falcon" - gci2011 - Aug 11, 2011 Haha, thanks guys! ---------------- 1987 Season 10 Hello guys! We're in the dead heat of summer, and there's nothing better than a day at the park to cure those hot summer blues! With breezy coasters, thrilling rides, and refreshing water rides, it'll be a great day all around. I just had to take a break from the office today to soak it all in: Of course, I started off with a ride on Falcon! It's really built right on the water! Of course, we can't forget about our other coasters! It was the perfect day for a soaking-wet ride on Thunder River. I ended with a ride on Whirlwind just as it started to sprinkle. See you again soon! -Jay Jones RE: Newport Pleasure Gardens - Arrow Suspended Coaster, "Falcon" - DutchBros - Aug 12, 2011 Wow a hot day at a park that's amazing RE: Newport Pleasure Gardens - Arrow Suspended Coaster, "Falcon" - TC8950 - Aug 13, 2011 Wow your still doing this park? o_o Well it looks f#$king amazing! RE: Newport Pleasure Gardens - Arrow Suspended Coaster, "Falcon" - gci2011 - Aug 15, 2011 DutchBros: Who would've ever thought... TC8950: Yup, still here. And thanks! ---------------- 1987 Season 10 Hey guys, It's still nice and hot here in Newport, but August is flying by. It won't be long before kids are back to school and we close up shop for the winter. Let's not worry about that, though; after all, we've still got more than a month left! Falcon had a few mechanical issues this morning, but it was testing by noon and up and running once again within the hour! Looping Starship looks too intense for me! This is one of my favorite places to eat lunch, they've got some great barbeque! I ended the day with a refreshing ride on Crawfish Island River Excursion! More soon, -Jay Jones RE: Newport Pleasure Gardens - Arrow Suspended Coaster, "Falcon" - TC8950 - Aug 15, 2011 Still lookin great! |
