RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Jul 9, 2006 This is going to be somewhat long... I've managed to get quite a bit done the past number of days, which I am surprised at because I am working overnights mostly. Not only have I done more expansion into my Ice Age Chill Zone family section, but I've done some retouching and modifications to my park entrance area. In all, I have 7 new screenshots posted. Screenshot 1) Fox Action Cinesphere - After reading suggestions to change the exit for the ride, as well as modifying the queue line, this is what I came up with. I also created a new path that goes through the gift shop (in which the monorail station sits above it) and goes around the Cinesphere. One reason why I did this is early tests of opening my park shows that without that path, peeps would go into the shop and get caught in there and never come out - we all know how bright the AI is... Screenshot 2) Lockers - Located right beside the entrance to the park, is a section for locker rentals. The lockers were custom made by Devilman at RCT Revalutions. As you can easily tell, the pathway is blocked so peeps don't actually walk in that area, as they'll get lost and fall into a black hole of sorts. Nonetheless, pretty much all major parks have them and I am trying to do a realistic type park (just as I made the amphitheatre and private groups section, but they too are blocked off. Screenshot 3) Kingdom Of Heaven Live Action Show - Basically another space filler. Based on the movie Kingdom Of Heaven, this blocked off area is a live action show with all new custom stadium seating designed by Havingfun at RCT Revalutions. Screenshot 4) Same thing as above, but a reverse angle. This particular view shows the custom stadium seating to a better effect. During one of my many visits to other parks in progress posts on one of the many RCT2 sites, I remember a screenshot from someone about a live stage show they made but at the back of the set they put up the supports to show how it was a set... I liked that idea, hence doing it here. Screenshot 5) Diego's Dashin Toboggan Race - A new coaster located at the entrance to my Ice Age zone. Like Mammoth (my previously unnamed woodie coaster), the ride stats seem to suggest it isn't a "kids" ride per say, but the stats are right in the middle, at least compared to other coaster tracks I've designed, so I'll say that these two coasters are family friendly, rather then for kids. Screenshot 6) Polar Cafe - a large restaurant in the Ice Age area. Has 3 stalls in it, each serving 2 foods/drinks. A washroom is located across the path. Screenshot 7) Alpine and Chestnut Chase - 2 more rides in the mid-section of Ice Age. Alpine is a flat ride - not too much to say there. Chestnut Chase is obviously a little coaster for little riders. It is in the same mold as other junior coasters such as the Taxi Jam coasters for Paramount Parks. In this same screenshot you'll see my 2nd monorail station. Obviously, I am still working on this section of the park. So those are my updates... 7 screenshots. I am getting a bit excited at how this park is shaping up. CLICK HERE TO VIEW MY SCREENSHOTS, or click on my signature/banner to go to my website where they are located. NOTE: When looking at the screenshots page, it may show that one of the thumbnails isn't working or something. Ignore it, they all work fine, I don't know why the website is giving me that problem, but if you click on any thumbnail image, including any icon that shows a broken image or link, it will in fact work and take you to the larger image size. Sorry this is so long, but on a side note, I wanted to add this last bit. Recently, my park was put on the RCT Peeps spotlight, complete with a well-written and detailed review by Wolfman of my first park, Six Flags Xtreme Canada. RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Jul 31, 2006 Even though I haven't done much on the park the past few weeks, as I have Paramedic licencing exams coming up in the middle of August, I wanted to post a couple of screenshots, and hopefully draw some feedback as I'm trying to get through a wall I've managed to hit in terms of better architecture in the park. The two new screenshots I've posted on my site are of my Ice Age: Chill Zone family section. The first one includes my new toboggan coaster (Sid's Slidin' Tobaggon Run), a still unnamed underwater submarine ride, and a very plain, boxy, and dull building for the monorail stop (yes, I really want to spice that building up alot). The second screenshot is an overall view of the entire section. All the rides that I initially planned on having in this section of the park have been made, but I can't help but feel there needs to be more. There are empty spaces, gaps, and, just quite simply, it needs more - not sure what to put in though. Perhaps adding a few static space filles (like I did for the lockers and amphitheatre at the front of the park). CLICK HERE TO VIEW MY SCREENSHOTS, or click on my banner/signature below to go to my site. So no need to tell me this area needs work, I realize that. Any specific suggestions as to how? RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Aug 7, 2006 Well I've done some tinkering with my Ice Age Chill Zone section, mainly focusing on the monorail station, and adding some other tidbits here and there. After discovering the ability to re-introduce the mountain tool in game mode through the 8 Cars Trainer, I added some hills/mountains and replaced a little outdoor food court (I'll move it somewhere else) with a minigolf course. In the first new screenshot, you can see the revamped monorail station. This time, it is a wooden lodge type building, and I changed the monorail track to the patented blue and yellow that Fox uses in its logo. Also, the station is partially imbedded into the mountain range I added there. In the second screenshot, you'll see that my outdoor food court has been taken out. Instead, I added a little mountain and used it as the centerpiece for a minigolf course I put in there. I don't have a screenshot to show this, but I also redid the forest landscaping so that there is a greater variety in treetypes. I am not done tinkering with this section, making it better and whatnot, but thought I'd show what I've done so far. It's still a work in progress. RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - Justin - Aug 7, 2006 Looks good so far! RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Sep 1, 2006 Dilemma... One of my first and favourite ideas I had for this park was for my Behind The Enemy Lines suspended coaster that would be propelled off an aircraft carrier, go through a twisted track, and return to the carrier. Thing is, not too long ago, I came across a custom RCT2 park made by EastCoastn07 called Paramount's Great Lakes '09. I found this park on the Thrill Network. This park features a coaster virtually identical to the idea I had for my park (it's that user's version of Top Gun). Now I feel that if I continue with my planned coaster, that it would be seen that I copied someone else's ride (for those of you who would have both his and my park). Click here to see an image of the ride I'm talking about. Is it ok to show an image of someone else's park? Don't want to be breaking any rules or anything. So much of the details of this ride is what I was thinking of, including how it launches (notice the block brake right after the station). Truth is, we both happened to have thought of the same idea. It happens, right? Think it's OK to go through with my coaster as originally planned? Thoughts? RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - Justin - Sep 1, 2006 I don't think there would be any problem, as long as your coaster isn't like an exact copy of his/her's... RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Sep 5, 2006 Belloman, thanks to your reply about my upcoming Behind Enemy Lines inverted coaster. I've got a bit of an update for everyone... I had to redo my Ice Age Putters mini-golf course due to some freak accident when I used RCT Reliable for something, so it looks somewhat different from the screenshot available on my site - but for the most part, it's basically the same. Also, I lengthened my Toboggan coaster in the Ice Age area. Don't have a screenshot of that. That being said, Ice Age is basically done, with the exception of little pieces of this and that to round it out (well-placed food stalls, washrooms, static scenery like midway games, etc) I got a bit antsy to start on my next coaster, so I started working on my Star Wars Galaxy area. More specifically, I began work on the signature ride in that section, Death Star Trench Run (may reconsider name later). This is a flying coaster (only the 2nd one I've ever tried) that takes you through the climactic scene in Star Wars where the X-Wings and Y-Wings tackle the TIE Fighters in an effort to precision fire a torpedo down the shaft in the end of the trench, and then get out quick. Click here to see the screenshot of Death Star Trench Run, or click on my signature/banner below to go to my site and view it. I haven't placed scenery yet, except for a few objects within the Death Star trenches (but I have scenery turned off right now so you can see the whole coaster). The colour of the coaster hasn't been chosen yet, so no need to point that the current colour pattern doesn't fit. The intensity rating for the ride is a bit more then what I hoped for, but I am not sure how I'd want to reduce it. This is my first try at designing this coaster, and it is a work in progress, so feel free to provide some feedback and suggestions. Indeed the final coaster could look quite different from what you see on my site right now. Cheers. RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Oct 3, 2006 The park is gone. I don't even know how it happened but the park file is lost. I should've had a backup of it but no point harping on the past. Even though I was really upset at the notion of losing what I worked on, I am going to start again - and hopefully it will be even better. This time, I can make changes from the ground up. So with that being said, I am starting over, and hopefully will have some new screenshots to show in the coming days. As usual, my website has updates on the development of Fox Studios World, so if youv'e made it a habit to check it every now and then, please don't stop. You'll be hearing more from me soon. Cheers. RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - Chickenselects - Oct 14, 2006 I loved the park, sad to hear that your work was lost. I hope you restart this one, heck it made me dust off my old copy of Rct2. RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Jun 10, 2007 Just wondering... in terms of advertising custom parks, is this site dedicated to RCT3? Should I even bother to post new threads about my 2nd attempt at Fox Studios World, a RCT2 park? |
