I agree with what you said, but my point is that people shouldn't just look at the scenery and say "Okay, I'll vote for this one." The coaster they should vote for should have a combination of good scenery, a thrilling ride, and an innovative concept behind it, not just only one of the three mentioned factors.
I just don't get why the actual ride gets into the back seat in people's minds when they vote in the BuildIt. They might as well use their scenery skills in Alex's Screenshot Contest instead.
Obviously though I'm kinda upset as to the fact that there is little foliage. I know this post is protesting about people using only scenery to vote, but aside from a good layout they should also have some scenery too. It just complements each other. Kinda like balancing a seesaw with equal weights.

I liked all of the entries. Twisting Inferno is a wonderful woodie, I love patriot, the knot has a really good coaster design and station lay-out, and demolition city has a nice unique theme to it. I voted for demolition city because I don't think the idea of a construction themed roller coaster has been used that much.
I think all of the entries could be improved by adding more trees/vegetation. Overall though, I think all the entries have worthy merit.

Some parts I agree with what you said, you can't really favor a coaster because it has custom objects, but others I disagree. I like coasters because of themeing. I think it's more fun to go through a tunnel and you can't see what's going to happen rather than going down a giant hill (not like that's not fun or anything), but if you think of it this way, you'll understand.
What's the most successful theme park and probably most favored among at least 60% of the world? Disney World. Walt Disney had a really good imagination and built rides based off it. It's one thing to have a lot of hills and loops, but it's a whole nother feeling when you feel like you're actually in, for example, a temple from Indiana Jones trying to escape some crazy boulder about to crush you, or in a Mickey Mouse cartoon with lots of fun characters and all of the sudden you're falling off a mountain. Themeing also adds to the beauty of the ride. Take Space Mountain, for example. If you Google some pictures of it with the lights on, it's a hot (or cold, if it's in space) mess. A giant structure with steel all over the place, and even if it is, it looks like it had no thought or planning incorporated into the design at all. But from the outside, or the riders point of view, it seems as if you're boarding a space ship about to fly to mars.
That's what roller coasters are all about... to me. Of course lots of people may just prefer to fly up and down and all they want is thrill. But if you work hard enough, you can combine thrill with themeing, and you'll probably end up with a big mountain with a track along the side.
