Your image reminds me of this fantastic science fiction book I read awhile back. In the book it’s a hundred or so years in the future and time travel had just begun to be used for historical research. A few people had been brought forward to the present from the middle ages, the American Wild West and other eras. To everyone’s surprise it turned out that two of the travellers in particular were not friends but actually rivals and one killed the other during the story but the dead rival was later replaced with additional time travel. Later on in the book, to celebrate their project, bigwigs from corporations funding the time travel historians hosted dinner for several thousand people in the Grand Canyon where speeches, dinner and the entertainment were all in mid-air on floating platforms.
Although yours are floating islands Alex your image has inspired me to somehow include some floating platforms in my park.
