RCT3 Platinum Windows 8 Troubleshooting - THUNDER55 - Jul 5, 2013

Hey everyone, I've been struggling with RCT3 Platinum on my windows 8 computer randomly crashing when I decide to build either water parks or zoos. Every time I try to do so, the game crashes and I lose everything, including saved files and coasters. It is like the computer deletes them. This doesn't happen when I use Soaked! or Wild! scenery, or custom scenery that requires any expansion pack. Any suggestions?

If this helps, my RCT3 Platinum is actually RCT3 Deluxe Edition from a game store in Great Britain. The icon for my game on the desktop does not say RCT3 Platinum, it just says RCT3. Also, when I install it, the installer uses the regular RCT3 interface and setup menu, not the RCT3 Platinum.

Sorry, I don't know my computer's specs since it was put together for me from the best parts of hundreds of computers.

Thanks! THUNDER55

I don't know if this will help you since I'm by no means an expert but I gave the game admin rights on my win 8 system and it seems to run pretty good with just some minor bugs like the night time flashing lights. The game plays fine and so far I've only had one problem with a saved scenario so I just deleted it and went on about my business. Does this help you ?

It sounds to me like you’ve actually got two RCT3 installs on your system. Perhaps you bought a newer version of RCT3 and installed the newer one over the older one you no longer wanted. Many people aren’t aware that if this is the case the old RCT3 needs to be uninstalled and the new one installed after.

If this is what’s happened save your RCT3 files to a safe place, uninstall what there is of the existing RCT3, delete the program files folder if it remains and then install the RCT3 that you want. Then put all your files back.
