I really need help on recolorable cs - Ardy - Apr 20, 2014

I have tried and tried and tried to make recolorable cs and every time I get a cheesy looking texture and on black it looks white. I have used a red texture to try to make it recolorable and each time fails, they turn out recolorable, but a poor texture and the color hardly changes, just lightly. It is like every shade of red I used doesn't work. Am I supposed to use another texture or something?

There is a setting in the importer that you need to flag in order to allow recolorability. Also it's a good idea to use gray-scale textures for recolorable items.

^I thought you used RGB colors.

^ Why would you think that?

Is that not what you are supposed to do? If not I've been doing it wrong.

Use a grey texture, it worked for me.
If you want darker colors use a dark grey texture, and if you want a lighter colors use a light grey texture.

A greyscale only works if there's only one recolorable texture within the object.
If you have two or three recolorable textures, you should use RGB at all times.

Hmmm .. what does one do to get multiple textures on one model?

And to get textures on both sides of the model as in foliage?

Both simply Sketchup things, to get multiple textures on one model, you import multiple textures in sketchup and paint faces manually. For your second question, you'd have to paint both sides in Sketchup, and in the importer, select the group with textures on both sides in the OVL creator and enable double faces.

Thanks. Now that’s what I call a reply! I got more out of those two sentences than I get out of some tutorials. If you ever do a tutorial be sure and let us know.
