hello,.dat files? - DonSPa - Oct 8, 2014

Hello,the last 2 days ive been getting back into rct3 after a 4 year absence and didnt realize that people were still playing and adding new stuff.I came across this site but i have 1 question and ive searched but cant seem to find the answer..When i download files they download as .dat files,how do i install them or open them or whatever ????Theres some pretty interesting files by the looks of things

What are you downloading? Coasters? Parks? Scenarios? It depends on what it is you're downloading to know where to put it

Hi DonSPa,

Here are some screenshots that might help explain what you are asking about the .dat files.
I hope I understood what you were asking for. (Most of the file downloads are a zipped or rar file. In those files after extracting them are usually the .dat files you are talking about. I use a program called Peazip (which is free) because it's the easiest. Here is the link:
http://peazip.sourceforge.net/ (Open the one from Peazip, not sourcforge)
If you are asking how to open the .dat file in the game...
Play, Sandbox, Start game. Go to Scenery, Custom Structures. Open the yellow folder and you should see the .dat file. Double click on it and place it where you want to. I hope that helps and I didn't confuse you. Smile

thanx guys,i see what was messing me up,i was trying to download the haunted mansion and was thinking it was a CS and that was what was confusing me because i knew cs is usually in zip format and put in the style/theme and the .dat was confusing me,thanx again for ur help
