Sharing Scenery Items - SMAN1 - Feb 14, 2006

Hi there how we all doing? new to all of this so any explanations need to be in laymans terms. having trouble running scenery downloads.

I have downloaded some files from a user on a forum to upload into RCT3 - TopGun, Starwars and Comic Hereos. I am receiving the download fine and am upzipping them (XP built in extractor) and saving them to Documents and Settings/Mydocuments/RCT3/Structures as directed by the manual but they are saving as .ovl rather .dat files and so are not being pulled into my structure menu when playing in sandbox mode. The same thing is happening for Indian Curse (Coaster) and despite looking on the net for some help I can't figure out how to alter the .ovl file to work.

I have succesfully downloaded another structure from a different user and it works on .dat fine.

Welcome to RCT3X!

If it is custom scenery then you need to unzip scenery to C://ProgramFiles/Atari/RollerCoasterTycoon3/Styles/Themed.

That should solve your problems. You were putting it in your documents/structures. That is only for structures (ie. buildings, anything .dat)

The custom scenery are .ovls and must go into the program files, not documents.

That is as simple as I can put it.

Hope it helps!Biggrin

You can put those in your C:\My Documents\RCT3\Coasters file those are your coaster tracks.

Hi guys

I have now moved all the .ovl files to the specified location in program files, and I can now see them in my scenery list in RCT3 but when I click on "comic book hero's" to expand the folder I get :

"No :svd for :sid"
[OK]

This crashes the game totally, I have soaked expansive. I looked up a previous problem with a wild expansion and "tidied" up the folder list but nothing has changed.

Any advice would be great.
