Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Jun 14, 2006 With Six Flags Xtreme Canada long done, and Paramount Great Excursion in the vault indefinitely, it is time to move forward in my next custom park project: Fox Studios World. To be technical, despite me dubbing this my second park project, it isn't - PGE is. But since I barely started it when I went on hiatus, and here I am with a new project underway, I consider FSW my second park. As far as I know, there has been no RCT park using the (20th Century) Fox brand, so I consider it the first time it is being done. I have great plans for this park, and can't wait to get deep into its design. Here are a few details on what I have planned: Themed Areas: Star Wars Galaxy - A section of park themed to the original Star Wars trilogy (I am not a fan of the newer trilogy). My planned signature ride will be a flying rollercoaster going through the Death Star trenches much like the climactic moments in Episode 4: A New Hope (the original Star Wars movie). Thrill Sector - This area of the park will house the bulk of the thrill rides, including my most fondest idea, Behind Enemy Lines, a propelled inverted coaster that is launched off an aircraft carrier runnings its course over the lake and edging the mountainous terrain. Old Tyme Exposition - A non-movie themed area mainly dedicated to traditional carnival and fairground rides. Ice Age: The Adventure - My kid's section of park themed to the popular Ice Age computer animated movie and its sequel. Fox actually has quite a few movie titles that has potential for some good rides. Such titles I am hoping to use include: X-Men, Flight Of The Phoenix, I Robot, Cast Away, Speed, True Lies, Broken Arrow, Aliens, Predator, Die Hard, and more. I have a few screenshots to show, but they are pretty bare since I just began construction of the park. I created my own website on FreeWebTown to host my own RCT2 site (see the banner/signature below) including all the screenshots, updates, links to each site I post in, etc. Click on the below link to view the screenshots: CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE SCREENSHOTS As always, feedback is always appreciated. On a side note, my first park, Six Flags Xtreme Canada, can be downloaded from my site as well. Cheers. TD RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - Hinny - Jun 16, 2006 8D W 8D O 8D W 8D I can tell that this park is gonna be amazing, by just looking at the other park you made! Do you have RCT3, cos I wanna see what some of these rides will be like if I rided them! Hinny RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Jun 16, 2006 No I don't have RCT3D, I decided to stick with RCT2 for now. To be honest, RCT3 didn't look that good to me. RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Jun 18, 2006 Overall, I've had a wide variety of suggestions from the different forums that I post in - so thanks for that, I do take the suggestions objectively. Thought I'd post a little update - nothing too exciting, but I like to pay attention to detail, and finish off with one area before moving on. I've been working on some details for the private member's section of the park, and also I've been working on the main entrance of the park. PLEASE CLICK HERE TO VIEW MY SCREENSHOTS For the "main entrance" screenshot, it is by far incomplete, but I wanted to post my progress with it at this point as I'd like to seek out some advice as to the best way of spicing it up, particularly around the bridge over the water portion. As you may have noticed, I did make some relatively minor changes to the patio side of the as of yet unnamed restaurant, including reworking the waterfall... but I wonder what else I can do with it. At the bottom of that screenshot is a souvenir shop. Inside of it are numerous different souvenir stalls. Any suggestions are appreciated. RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - Justin - Jun 18, 2006 It looks great so far, I can't think of anything to suggest. I'm interested to see what this may become, good luck! Nice looking website, by the way. Edit: Oh, and if you haven't noticed, I moved this thread earlier today... RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Jun 20, 2006 Thanks. Hopefully will have a new post with updates soon. RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Jun 28, 2006 It's been a little while since I last posted, but that's mainly cause I haven't really done much on the park in the past few weeks or so. I'm still working on the main entrance area of the park. Overall the feedback and suggestions I am getting are quite varied, some saying that they like some specific parts about something, but others comment that they don't like the same thing for the very same reasons... lots of opinions out there - and certainly can't please everyone. Anyway, I've done some reworking of my main entrance. In regards to the restaurant, I just did a tiny bit of tinkering, adding some sunroofs, and adding an overhang over the entrance to the restaurant (something specifically suggested by someone to me). I want to keep the area decorated but still have lots of space for peeps to walk around (some say that's great, others say it's a bad idea). I've just added some flowers and foliage of sorts. The gift shop has been moved and redone. Now, on the mainfloor is the shop, with 4 or 5 stalls in it, and on the 2nd floor is the monorail station. Proceeding up the main entrance you'll find an observation deck in a not-entirely enclosed island. I think it looks nice. RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Jul 3, 2006 The park is slowly growing, and thus, I come here with another update. Doing more work on the entrance area of the park, I changed the colours of the glass roofs and sunroofs throughout the restaurant. It's not a major change, but I think it makes a big difference in its appearance - and for the better. And no need to point it out, looking at the screenshot, I realized I missed a piece. In the same screenshot, you'll see a new attraction I added, a 3D theatre. I opted to use an all-glass dark-tinted roof that reminds me of a neat pavilion I went to as part of Expo 86 in Vancouver, BC. There is a method behind my madness... Also, I got really tired of working on the same area, trying to make it the best it can be, so I took a break after adding the theatre attraction, and decided to work on my first coaster. It is a kid's wooden coaster in the corner of my Ice Age Chill Zone kid's section of the park. In the screenshot you will see the stats of the ride. From the day I made the landscape, I envisioned having a coaster run just above the water and take advantage of the little island... although I originally thought I'd use a bobsled coaster there instead of a wooden one. I am anticipating this ride to be a popular one, hence a long queue line. At this time, all the rides/attractions in my park do not have names yet. RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - Justin - Jul 3, 2006 Looks great, however, I think that the entrance to the building in the back of this screenshot, maybe split it up or not make it look as wide RE: Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park! - thirstydeer - Jul 3, 2006 Belloman Wrote:Looks great, however, I think that the entrance to the building in the back of this screenshot, maybe split it up or not make it look as wide Are you referring to the 3D theatre? |
