I have a new laptop with Vista - DrMonkey - Apr 14, 2007

Yay for me! I have a brand new laptop with a gig of ram; an 80 gig hard drive and I'm sure to put RCT3 on hre soon. I hve to ay it's gonna take a bit of getting used to; but it looks great and my screen is crystal clear.

Oh yeah the forums look a bit weird in Vista; after a few days I'm sure that it will wear off.

Also does anyone know if I can run RCT3 I'm on Vista Home basic...? I hope so and if not I'm sure that the new gadgets on Vista will keep me happy.

Oh yeah does anyone else have vista? Perhaps if you have you can give me a link to a site hat tells me what software works on Vista IE Itune, Nvu, Photofiltre and word 2000.

Yay again !

I am running Vista Ultimate and it is great, it does take a little getting used to but I am glad I upgraded from XP Pro.

Might not be the most complete of lists but will give you an idea as to what should work under Vista.

RE: I have a new laptop with Vista - DrMonkey - Apr 15, 2007

Thanks for that! I m really enjoying vista so far and I hope I can get Word 2000 on in a bit; I'm not all too fond on the new version it looks a bit hard to use. Or maybe it's because I'm not used to it yet.

Mind you I can't belive how fastit loads up; I'm o the basic version and with XP I ued to load it up hear the XP noise and once I'd finished making a cup of tea I could then use my computer. Aaaaah fond memories!

I'll post a few more updates in a bit now I'm gonna try the new picture system.

Cool, sounds good Smile

Im still stuck with XP! You got any screenshots/pics of your desktop, folders etc to show it off?

RE: I have a new laptop with Vista - Pin142 - Apr 15, 2007

http://upload.coastermaster.com/deskvista1.jpg is a screenshot of my desktop showing a couple of things including multiple time zones displayed when mouse over the clock, the window picture in picture thing which will display animations, obviously the side bar, and new look for browsing folders, audio files now display album art as the icon.

If there is anything else you are wanting to see I can take a screenshot and upload it.

RE: I have a new laptop with Vista - DrMonkey - Apr 15, 2007

I haven't got any screens yet but I sure am enjoying Windows Media Player 11. It's much easier to use on Vista and alot better when putting your music onto your MP3 Player. Take for example the pictures of album art when using XP I could never put them o for some odd reason; but wirth vista they all go on easier and automatically.

Other nice touches is the gadgets pad which includes the notes system. I also love the way that web pages are displayed in the AOL Vista version.

Also my laptop's widescreen is amazing! lovely and clear.

Smile

You have to  play around with vista to notice all the new things. Everythings just easyier lol. The princaple is still the same its just more organised.
Only anoying thing is you have to give it perrmission for everything you want to run or install. Apart from that its all good.

I would highly suggest to research the version you want to get. Whilst the basic will only have limited featuers and wont have things like the areo effects ect whilst the ultimate edition has everything including the handy windows media centre.

Ive not had any problems with vista apart from it shows my pc as a dell when its a custom built machine. The install was easy and straight forward. I chose to do it as a clean install but you can run it along side xp. Only program i used before that wasnt compatible was mccafree firewall.

Looks sweet Smile

I might have to upgrade

RE: I have a new laptop with Vista - Ryan Gordon - Apr 16, 2007

Your running basic? That sucks. Aren't you only allowed to run like 3 programs at a time or something crazy?

Oh and you don't get the "Areo" interface and lots of other stuff.

I've been running Vista RC1 for a few months now, and it's pretty good. RCT3 works fine on it.

No I have been using tons of programmes; I'm a very messy PC user I have loads of windows open at once. At the moment I have Media Player, AOL (VR), Nvu, Photofiltre and Microsoft Word.

I am actualy pleased I don't have the ugly Aero interface. I detest it and I love the one that's included on the basic set up.

Mind you I have to ask; are you still running the Beta version of Vista?
