DOWNTOWN - Spez - May 13, 2008

This is the project I'm working on right now: a scaled reproduction of downtown Montreal, my hometown, using Google Earth and multiple pictures. An gigantic task! Most of the buildings you will see below hide a flat ride or a rollercoaster! Smile The park will be complete with actual streets, cars, and you will be able to ride those streets on board the safari jeep!
Here's five images, each with an insert of the real buildings for comparison. Click on each tumbnail for full view.

I'll try to be as acurate as possible. I have acquired new helicopter photos lately. This will allow me to replicate downtown with more precision. Many of the buildings you see are in reconstruction right now with more appropriate wall sets. When I started, I didn't all the CS that I have now.
I scaled the buildings to the size of the peeps, and every building is correctly scaled to one another. All these structures will be very close to the originals.
Maybe the streets will lack realism, because of the orthogonal pattern of the grid I have to work on.

You can even say that most areas are still in construction.
I don't know when this will be finished. But I will try to update you with the progress. Smile

Well i haven't actually been to Montreal but, maybe you could give us a good look at what it looks like.

This one is a major office building called Place Ville-Marie. I created a funny rotating tower coaster inside. The effect of windows and walls swirling around you when riding the coaster is cool.

This ride BTW is already available in the downloads/rollercoaster section. It's called Nausea Tower. And it comes with the building (earlier version of it) ! Smile
