Entrance and ride admission balance - _alphaBeta_ - Nov 6, 2010

Is there an ideal balance between park entrance fees and ride admission fees? I just played the "New Blood" scenario where the rides are locked at free, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, it's not a bad strategy for a rainy map since the peeps already spent their money to get in, so I don't really care if they ride anything or not. There were dead spots with little income, but those leaving started to balance out with new ones coming in.

I'm wondering for other rainy maps if it makes sense to split the difference and charge a small entrance fee, but reduce the ride admissions. Are peeps less willing to pay for rides if there's an entrance fee? My preliminary testing indicates this is true, but I don't know what the exact effect is. If the park entrance fee is $20, does that mean I'm charging $0.50 for a high-excitement ride? $1.50?

I realize I can play-test this to death, but was wondering if anyone already looked into this.

I too just finished the Blood scenario. I kept raising the price of admission until I saw the peeps turn away. I got it up to $35.00.

As far as the balance between Gate vs Ride admission??? I don't know but I would be interested to find out.
