PAHOEHOE RESORTS GROUP PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL

What would you do with some prime island real estate and a fortune? Like any other person would, our founder and CEO John Galt decided to develop the land as a sunny beach resort. Thus the Pahoeoe Resort Company was founded.

As our first project, Pahoehoe Resort, sees its 100,000th visitor, we are thrilled to have been given the green light to tell you about our work-in-progress: Pulau Peninsula Estate.

In keeping with the company tradition, our CEO does not wish us to reveal everything before the park is open, so we will be giving you as much information as we can in each of our updates. It is our hope that you will be as excited as we are to see this project come to completion.

Without further ado, let us present you with a first glimpse of the Peninsula Resort Hotel:

The hotel is a converted colonial-era manor house with 27 luxuriously-furnished family rooms and 3 grand suites. The interiors of the rooms and suites are the work of award-winning interior designer Frank Deco, combining modern comforts with the exquisite charms of a 19th-century mansion. Each room is uniquely designed while offering the best in modern amenities. Experience holiday living like never before!

As you may see in the picture, we have added an extension that is even larger than the hotel itself. This is the Pulau Mall, which contains a fully air-conditioned food centre and shops. It also houses the station of our megacoaster, the Ouroboros, a small section of which you may see going into the hotel. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to reveal more information about the Ouroboros at this point, so it will be featured in a future update.

The hotel and mall are attached to large indoor pool area, which we will also be featuring in a future update. For now, however, we are allowed to reveal that the pool complex offers 4 water slides, 2 of which will (we believe) set a record or two.

Fun fact: The chimneys of manor house were built mostly for decorative purposes by the first owner, although they were functional. One of them, however, was used on a regular basis by the kitchen.

St. Bernard's Island is a little rock off the coast of the peninsula. Legend has it that mermaids used to dwell in the waters around it and lure unsuspecting ships onto its treacherous shore. Our resident experts, on the other hand, are of the opinion that it is most likely an extinct volcano. In any case, a lighthouse has existed on the island for as long as European sailors have visited this part of the world. It was rebuilt many times, the last being not more than thirty years ago. It is still serviceable and our company is proud to be operating it.

We have built a Ferris wheel on the island so that visitors may enjoy a spectacular view and the sea breeze at the same time. In the picture, you may also see a ferry terminal and a house above the water. The latter was built in the style of the manor house more than 70 years ago to serve as a waterfront villa. We have done some major work to further protect it from the effects of erosion (part of it used to sit on the beach), and now it serves as one of our water boat stations.

Fun fact: For a brief period when the estate was virtually uninhabited, St Bernard's Island served as a base for a pirate radio station. They were soon ejected by the new owners of the estate, the local colonial administration, but not before a short gun battle ensued.

We are very happy to see that our first preview of Pulau Peninsula Estate has generated a small buzz, despite the fact that we weren't able to include much more information. Construction is going at a brisk pace, and we have been given the go-ahead to give you another update just in time for the weekend. It looks like we're set for a soft opening within the month, so we will be able to give you a more comprehensive look at the park from now on.

In this update, we are going to cover the way from the hotel to St Bernard's Island. Here we have a picture that our photographer took from the pier by the beach. In the background, you can see Pulau Mall, and in front of that is the boardwalk with its shops. Guests will be able to take a relaxing stroll or sit on the benches by the beach and enjoy refreshments from the waterfront shops.

To the right is a water boat station (we built this one entirely), where, for a minimal fare, guests will be able to take our boats to the station near St. Bernard's Island. Alternatively, they may walk along the main avenue that links the hotel complex to the east side of the peninsula, which we will do in our pictures.

View of the haunted dormitory

Down the avenue, just before turning onto the treetop walk, we can see the haunted dormitory. This was built together with the mansion for the indentured servants who worked on the estate and its plantation. Local legend has it that one of the owners who inherited the estate treated these servants as little more than slaves. As their numbers increased, they were forced to live in cramped conditions in the dormitory. Their pleas for new housing to be built met with a singularly cruel response - the landowner had a rickety house built inside the existing structure. It was in the inhuman living conditions of this house-within-a-house that several servants died, and rumour has it that they haunt it to this day. Enter only if you dare!

With the fires on the torches still burning in the crisp morning air, our photographer ventured out onto the treetop walk. In this picture, you may see a small part of the walk, which passes over the River Ruins Ride. This is a wet ride that promises a fun time for the whole family. Be sure to bring some clothes to change into, though.

We can also see part of the Ouroboros in the background, crossing over the other end of the treetop walk. Yes, we are skirting the rule of not showing too much here, so please don't tell our boss.

Here we can see the view of the River Ruins Ride and the sea from a photo spot. This is the part where guests on the ride will get really wet. You have been warned.

Well, we'll not say any more here and let the picture do the speaking, lest we cross the line completely.

We are now at the other end of the treetop walk, where we can see more of the River Ruins Ride and the Savannah Show. The show's lions are trained in a humane manner by our expert lion trainers, and guests will be offered photo opportunities with the pleasant big cats at the end of the shows. It's more fun for the whole family!

The Carousel and outdoor food centre

Approaching the end of the main avenue, we come to the Carousel and the outdoor food centre by the beach. Enjoy the sea breeze as you go round the Carousel. If you're feeling hungry, there's no rush to get to the mall. The outdoor food centre offers a quick but healthy and hearty meal as you sit down to take a break. A day in Pulau Peninsula Estate can be as relaxing as it is exciting.

We would like to thank you again for your support. This week, we are going to show you our pool area and its water attractions, which we've kept under wraps so far. We'll follow our photographer and cameraman as he walks around and tests the water slides. Some fun is definitely in order! So, without further ado...

This is the indoor pool area. Rain or shine, everyone can still enjoy the pool, whether you're in for a relaxing dip or to splash around. The friendly lifeguards are there to ensure your safety and provide any assistance. At the back, you can see the ancient temple, which serves as the exit for our two tall water slides (45 and 42 metres high!). You can see where they begin, high above on the rock in the background.

Second entrance to the pool area

The second entrance to the pool area can be accessed from the upper floor of the Pulau Mall. Hotel guests may wish to use this entrance from the third storey of the hotel, which is connected to the upper floor of the Mall. This entrance opens directly onto the long walkway leading to the water slides, but guests can easily access other parts of the pool area, including the outdoor pool, using the walkways above the pool that you can see in the picture.

Speaking of the outdoors, here is a view of the sunbathing deck with its two jacuzzi pools. If you think a jungle holiday can't be relaxing, think again!

And now we have a video of the water slides that was taken by our cameraman a few days ago. He would like you to know that he highly recommends the two tall slides. Enjoy!
