Help needed - cyberwaveIT - Sep 10, 2012 Hi, I've recently restarted playing RCT3 after a very very long absence. I've had to restock the CS gathered from the still active sites. In my quest, I've noticed that after downloading certain CSOs there are "unnatural" characters within the .ovl files. Installing these "unnatural" files causes my game (RCT3 Platinum) to hang (the infamous no :svd for :sid error) when I mouse over them in the game. I've used several different file compression softwares to unpack but with the same results. Is there any solution out there? I've already read up & tried that renaming these files will simply not work. I've attached some examples below. These were extracted from "Coasterfreak90s MegacoasterAdditions - SteeljungleAddon" subfolder. - Coasterfreak90s Reduzierstu虉ckFatThin.common.ovl - Coasterfreak90s Reduzierstu虉ckFatThin.unique.ovl - Coasterfreak90s Reduzierstu虉ckFatThinoffset.common.ovl - Coasterfreak90s Reduzierstu虉ckFatThinoffset.unique.ovl Hope to hear some replies from the community. RE: Help needed - cyberwaveIT - Sep 10, 2012 Thanks for the quick responses. The "unnatural" characters were already inherent in the zip file when I downloaded it. I tried renaming the "unnatural" back to its original character, in this case the alphabet "e", but it doesn't work. When the "no :svd for :sid" error occurs, it displays the .ovl file with the "unnatural" character still. So sad... I've included the zip file as ref. I checked the folder on my computer and you need to replace the Chinese (I think) letter with this symbol: ü RE: Help needed - cyberwaveIT - Sep 10, 2012 I downloaded it from RCT-3.org. Tried renaming it again but crashes again... Downloaded the copy from RCTDB, but still crashed. I was rechecking my laptop's language & regional settings & to my surprise, it was the settings that was creating the error. One of my language options was Chinese & it was this that converted the German unique chars to Chinese, during the downloading. I've since removed the Chinese option, re-downloaded the copies & now it's working. Go figure!!! Hope this helps those peeps out there as well. When downloading the CS packs from the European sites, it's best to remove (not disabling) the Chinese language option, or it will find it's way to "corrupt" the files.
