A Humble Request To The Moderators - evilthecat6600 - Mar 13, 2013

First off, to the RCT3 community, I mean no disrespect to CS users whatsoever, however I am getting extremely tired of downloading every piece of custom scenery users recommending and then game still crashing anyway.

CS is getting harder and harder to come by and I feel that it's not right for users to give you a list of CS and then game crashes anyway. It is, as such, that I would like to request, for the sake of the community, that a change be made to the site: Please ban the use of CS included in downloads.

People can still recommend CS to add to the rides, but I think downloads would be less problematic if CS was not allowed to be saved to the ride during the uploading process. Again, I don't expect any major change, however, I'm tired of trying to download rides I'd like to try out, and the game crashing, and I'm sure others are, so making this change would be appreciated.

Thank you for your consideration.

I'm sure I speak for many others when I say I appreciate your comment.

Well said! I have often found myself wondering how everyone got along with this and have been amazed that no one seems to have mentioned it before now.

As much as I like CS it's the rides we're judging and not the scenery. Perhaps it could be a condition of entering that the park the ride comes with has only in-game scenery. However, some of the rides look stunning with their CS supports. This is a tall order but maybe the entrants can create one CS ride with CS park and one non-CS ride with non-CS park. This way the rides can be judged by everyone who's interested and not just those who got the ride or park up and running. Not sure how this would work if a CTR is submitted.

If we'll be remaining with CTR and/or CS rides & CS parks being submitted, if any changes are going to be made I humbly suggest another solution would be in addition to the entrant providing a list of CS needed to try the ride and see the park it comes with, alongside the scenery list should be a complete description by the entrant of which folder the entrant has put each CS file in (particularly important for CTR's submitted) and a list of links leading to where they downloaded each CS or CTS from. This would be helpful to our newbie members who may have no idea how to install a CTR, don't always know where to find the files into which to place downloads, may not know that sometimes a file with a .rar extension may need extracting with WinZip (and vice versa) and don't know to assume the CS goes into Themed if it doesn't come with instructions. This also means that CTR's will continue to be judged only by those who can get them up and running without crashing their game.

I agree.
but i'm thinking it should be "if you put a cs coaster on this website you must put a version without cs on the site"

I don't download nothing from this site lol I use shyguysworld

No offence but... that's a horrible idea. You do know that you don't HAVE to download every ride in the downloads section.

I've been using Custom Scenery for years and I know how to install it. About 1 in 50 CS sets that I install crash. I think you're just doing it wrong.

RE: A Humble Request To The Moderators - rccoa coasters - Mar 13, 2013

I know but some of the downloaders may not use or don't have any cs and don't want to get it.
and another thing, alex you've been using cs for years so you know how but you arent the only user out there.
half & half of these users want to or don't want to use cs.
and i'm half of both sides. Biggrin

Those people don't know what they're missing.

But, even if CS was banned from the downloads, it probable wouldn't work out very well unless one of the two following things happened:

1. There was someone to authorize every download submitted to RCTgo. That wouldn't work because it wouldn't be in much interest for anyone and you would have to wait until your download was approved by the person who checks the downloads.

2. A built-in web program would have to be designed to check for any CS used in the file. That wouldn't work because you may put it in a zip folder or an installer, making it impossible to do. Also, it would be a very complicated program and there aren't many people who can do that.

How did you fix your .ovl files? Did you reopen them in an editor or use a utility?

RE: A Humble Request To The Moderators - nineflagsinc - Mar 14, 2013

I import the Files to Sketch up to see if it the CS then I create a ovl from the ovl creation and replace the Old file with the new file
