I really need help! Please Help. - Ardy - Apr 8, 2013

I am trying to continue making Custom Scenery, and most of you know I reset everything on my computer, well I have been experiencing trouble trying to download stuff.

As in the picture above, I have Windows Service Pack 2. Well, when I go to download something that needs Service Pack 2 or later... like of course, Google Sketchup, I open the file and it says I don't have the right version of Windows, but before I reset my computer, I could download Sketchup. Something is wrong here... Please Help!

That looks like a very old version of Windows.

Get one of those Dell XPS Duo 12 computers. They're sick!

I used to could download Sketchup, but now I can't. I had just downloaded the newer version of Sketchup before I reset my computer.

The update probably didn't support the version of Windows you have.

I notice Service Pack 2 is listed in your illustration. Did you have Service Pack 3 before. If you did, you need to get it (SP3 can be downloaded now) and install it again. Also be sure your system settings, particularly internet settings and any download manager settings, are the same now as they were before.

No. I had Service Pack 2 before. I also tried downloading SP2 then SP3, but the downloads say I don't have the right version of Windows.

Also, just in case, my computer is also Vista compatible, but it is mainly a XP, just in case that would change anything.

This is the page I downloaded it from:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24

If you're still having version problems, confirm your version on this page:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/which-operating-system

If Microsoft downloads believes the version of XP you have matters then that second page should then lead you to the SP3 that you need.

Having written that, if you had SP2 before this wouldn't be the cause of your problem now. And it doesn't matter what compatibility your machine has, the platform that's on it now is what counts. A major problem with systems that don’t seem to cooperate after a reinstall is settings. Are you absolutely sure all your settings are where they were before?

And I’m not entirely sure what you mean by “reset” your computer. I have assumed you’ve reinstalled XP. Did you completely reinstall Windows XP on your system or did you do something else? If you did the something else, are all your settings where they were before you reset?

I completely reinstalled Windows XP on my system. I'm not sure what my settings were before, because I got this computer from someone else who had set the settings.

Also, when I go to install something that needs SP2, it says it cannot install on my version of Windows.

Does anyone know where I can download Sketchup 7 without getting viruses or adware like CNET.
