Small annoying detail regarding Custom Scenarios

#1
When saving the custom scenario all I get as the "icon" screenshot .. the one you see in the list of scenarios available when you're selecting it to load, is the plain, default park with an asphalt road leading in from the plain park entrance.. the park you get when you open the scenario editor. How do I get this to be an actual screenshot of the park in the scenario? I've tried saving it at every possible point I can think of and that screenshot will not change.

Thanks in advance.

It seems RCT3 puts a very low priority on the thumbnail for park screenshots. In my experience it will use the default thumbnail until it decides it can spare the resources to load another. I find that a park usually has to run (not be in pause but run) for at least a few minutes before the next save will have an updated screenshot. I’ve never tried it but I would imagine running the park in fast forward will reduce the amount of time this will take.

Also to get a new screenshot it helps to move the camera away from the location it starts at in the park when the park opens. Zooming in and out a few times seems to help ensure a new thumbnail.

If you’re running a huge busy park that’s maxxing out your CPU, RAM, graphics card and game engine if one saves every few minutes one will find that no matter how much you’ve moved around the park that after an hour most of the thumbnails for the park save files will be the same – or if the game engine has dropped the thumbnail for some reason the park save files will show with a solid black thumbnail until the game is relaunched.

I've been fiddling with it and figured out how to force it to save a thumbnail. First I save the park in the scenario editor with the camera in the view I want to appear in the thumbnail. Then I exit the scenario editor and copy that file and rename it.. So I'll have My_Park_A.dat and My_Park_B.dat files. I then go back into the scenario editor and open the My_Park_A.dat file and the camera view shows up from when I saved it (the one I want to show as the thumbnail). I then load up My_Park_B.dat without exiting the scenario editor, load it from within it, and start editing the scenario in the B file. When I save the B file, it has the thumbnail from the A file view when I opened it.

Weird but it seems to work.
