RCT3 Help With Mods and few other things

#1
Hello Guys and Gals

Im pretty much new now, but not to the game. Played for a few months and stopped.
But now im playing it again (Pfffff last time i played this game was about a few years ago)

So to the problems that i have.
Is number one i have downloaded a few coaster that have dat and TD6 behind it.
Where do you put these coasters?
I know where you put these coaster.trk, but not the coaster.data files.
Still i got a few problems with a few coasters that always crashes my game.
I think those coaster have some scenery on them which i don't have.
Thats probably why it crashes the game, well thats my theory.

Number two

Where do you put the (coaster) scenery files and the custom scenery files?
I have tryed to put them into C:\Users\???????????\Documents\RCT3 and a few other locations Wink
Although it crashed my game already a few times, that is why im now seeking help.

Number 3
How to you do your own custom Scenerys?
Is there a exporter or a converter to download?
Or a few other programs that is needed to do so?

Too bad there isnt any Tutorials selection on this website. So i could have just got the info from there. And download them.
So i hope someone is willing to help me.

I am already saying thank you. Smug

To see what file goes where check out this post

If the flash link doesn’t work it’s post #2.

For the care and feeding of downloads see this post

If the flash link doesn’t work, again, it’s post #2. Of particular interest is the second to last paragraph in this post which tells where files may be found after they’re installed and why sometimes it’s difficult to locate them.

To learn to make CS take a look at this

SketchUp vs Blender ….. hmmm ….. the bottom line with creating CS is that while SketchUp is intuitive to use the free version comes with only some of the features the paid version has and even with the paid version eventually you’ll become limited with what you can do in SketchUp as opposed to what’s available in Blender. Blender comes only in the full version and it’s free. While it has a steep learning curve there are hundreds more plug-ins for Blender than for SketchUp and Blender can do much more than SketchUp. Eventually you’ll find with SketchUp that when you’ve completed scenery you’ve got hundreds more polys than anticipated and all these additional polys are next to impossible to ‘convert’ out using either SketchUp or another application. When Blender is used knowledgeably excess polys are something that’s not a problem.

If you’re going with Blender (a wise choice!) I’d recommend version 2.49 as I’ve noticed in my internet travels that there is much more available for download to add on to it than the other versions. Blender versions older than 2.49 are not recommended.

As a matter of interest RCT3 models for use in SketchUp can be converted for use in Blender.

.dat files are either parks and structures which can be downloaded or campaigns and tutorials which install with the game.
