RCT1 RCT1 won't run on my laptop, all I get is this error message

#1

I have a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. I bought RCT1, 2 and 3 in a pack mainly for RCT1 because I LOVE playing 1. Others say it runs just fine on Windows 7 & Windows 8 on Amazon where I bought the games from so I was hopeful. Unfortunately my hopes have been crushed. The game installs just as it should with no issues but whenever I click the 'play' button I get this error message:

Error Trapper

Exception Raised - Access Violation

Error Location: UNKNOWN

I've tried the compatibility mode and tried to run the game under Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000 & Windows XP but I still get the same error message every time. I was hoping someone could help me so I can play the game I've been longing to play for a very long time. Any ideas on what's wrong and what I need to do to fix it? Would factory resetting my laptop help
?

Hmm... Try uninstalling it then re-installing it. Maybe you didn't install it correctly.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it twice in both the minimum version and the full version. I still get the error message.

Is this just RCT1 or does your install include the Loopy Landscapes and Corkscrew Follies add-ons?
If it does include the above mentioned add-ons, go to this link

http://support.atari.com/index.php?/Know...pes-update

and download the patch. Install that and it should fix that problem.

Note: I should state that the LL patch did fix the problem for me on an XP machine. I can't confirm it will work on Win 7 though.

If your install does not include the add-ons, try the basic patch at this link.

Here's a site discussing RCT1 on Win 7 if the above options don't work.
