Guys, please stop drawing huge conclusions. The roller coasters in the game are just for showing purposes. They have already stated that RCT World will not rely heavily on prebulit elements and track pieces meaning that you can probably build realistic roller coasters in RCT World kinda like Theme Park Studio. This is a huge improvement. It has better looking graphics than roller coaster tycoon 3 and it looks like they actually took their time to create a product better than roller coaster tycoon 3.
Until you have the game yet, don't be so quick to pass judgment.

No need to create a new thread. You could have easily added it to the thread about the new screenshots.
Imo I think the graphics are worse. Obviously all the models and stuff are going to be improved but if we can install custom content (which is pretty much a deal breaker at this point) then it won't matter. As far as lighting, shadows, and the general look of the environment, I'd say it is a huge step down, especially considering screenshots that use AO. I am slightly optimistic about vertex track editing, but based on what they've shown, the track doesn't even resemble a real coaster track. You make the point that the scenes shown in the trailer were merely an example of what can be done, and that you could make the track look much better if you wanted to, but they have no reason to make it look bad at all. In fact, this trailer is the first real hint and what the game will be like. It only makes sense to create the best looking trailer you can, and first impressions will start the game out with a good reputation.
Honestly, I don't believe Atari is even capable of producing a serious roller coaster game. They have completely ignored the entire RCT3 community for years now, and they still think that RCT has to be a "game" rather than a serious tool. The creators of No-Limits had their mind set in the opposite direction, and all they received was positive feedback. If these developers are going to continue the pattern that they have started, then we're just going to keep making RCT3 better, by ourselves.
I'll agree that from what I saw the graphics are pretty much of a step back.
However, I personally don't play RCT for the overwhelming graphics. It would be nice if it were photo realistic, but that also means that as soon as I build more than three rollercoasters and two thrill rides, my machine will be out of memory and the FPS drops to 10.
This already happens when I play RCT3 on max graphics and start to get close to maxing out my park.
That said, I would at least welcome better graphics if they came along with them, but it's not the main selling point for me. As long as I can dunk peeps around in slides, I'll be happy. That Soaked feature gave me many, many smiles. Isn't that what the whole game is about?
What I AM looking forward to is the vertex track editing and co op play. Both of these open up a lot more opportunities.
Whether I'll buy RCT World on release, I don't know.
