Gettin' kinda sick of...

#1
I'm getting very tired of the people who constantly complain about RCT3. People complain about how slow it is, about the graphix, engine, etc., but people forget the entire reason we have these problems.

These problems are simply a bi-product of the amount of freedom we are given in-game. Let's consider. At any given moment, the game must be able to instantly and efficiantly generate a view of all the rides in screen, all the moving vehicles, all the Peeps, all the lights, all the 'background' stuff like sales and statistics and thoughts, the weather, water effects, night and day cycles, sound effects, all in a 3D environment, meaning that it must be able to do this from any angle at any time. The "lag" is caused when there is so much stuff going on, in essence we have personalized the park to a great extent, that it takes a few seconds for the view on our screen catch up.

In other words, people are complaining that we have to much freedom!

This is a great game! It gives us more freedom than any other game to precede it. I understand the frustration, but I think if we gave a little more sympathy, the community would benefit. (This is not so much targeted at this community, but at the Atari community. It drives me crazy.) Most people don't realize how much work it takes to make a game, and then to turn around and have people call it a worthless piece of junk is not the way to get what they want.

Got that out of my system. Smile

I whole-heartedly agree!

The only time lag really bugs me is when I'm changing the settings to get ready to take a screenshot. RCT3 slows to a halt, but that is really the only time I am truely bothered by lag. But of course, that is in Belloman's Beachside Estates, and the whole park is filled with trees and rides etc., which is what causes the lag in the first place.

It's great you brought this topic up, It's funny how the same people who complain constantly about lag, are also the ones whoc constantly want more things added to the game. Yes, I do hate the lag in Rct3 but I get over it quite quickly. Its really funny you brought this up, because my cousin got Rct3 for christmas and called me and complained about it.

RCT3 is the most releastic Theme Park Simulation game availiable. It looks great and there are pleanty of options that make it so great. Such as the Day and Night Functions and The game all has a time scheme.

I personally choose not to visit the Atari Community Forums. They hate everything unless they have said it. Take the latest expansion pack Wild. Wild brought many other things to the game than animals. It brought loads of flat rides intersting new coasters and really extended the way we play RCT3.

I think that we all have choices and that sometimes we express them a trad too loudlyBiggrin (That's not aimed at you Sevey13 merely all the times the Atari Community Forums have annoyed me)

Isn't it nice to share a problemWink

That is exactly the reason I am premiering my new park here in a few minutes, rather than in the Atari Community.

The reason it lags so much is because it is so versitile. At any given time, the game has to generate any view of all things on screen. The reason Halo and Counterstrike work without lag is because they are "pre-rendered." The makers of those games created the maps, then compiled them BEFORE putting them into the game. The only thing you see in those games is what the designer built for you. In RCT3, YOU get to be the designer. Because of that, there are quadrillions of different combinations of flat rides, coasters, shops, stalls, buildings, scenery, etc., that we can make, making it completely costly, not to mention stupid, for the designers of RCT3 to try to 'control' what we build. A great example of "controlling" what the players build is Sim Theme Park *shudders.*

Games like The Sims 2 lag as well, it isn't just RCT3. It lags a ton when I turn it on "Live" mode or whatever it is called - The Sims is similar to RCT3, YOU design the sims, you design the house, you run their lives.

(To Sevey13) And thank you for posting your park here rather than there! The more people who do this, the better. The Exchange forum there is so filled up, whenever I posted a update, it might've lasted on the first page for a day, but then disappear. I reposted it here, as this is my community Biggrin
