It doesn't change the fact that its generic. Especially when Clown said they were the extreme and brutal band out there. The word ego comes into play.

No, Not all bands have ego's like that.

But lots of bands most people don't know, Slipknot is one of the few metal bands that almost everybody knows, but they can get pretty cocky.

I suppose any band can get cocky if they have a song that is a hit.
