i dont get how it is so annoying though.

It's against the rules, and it's annoying because it puts old threads at the top of the recent posts, when there isn't any life in the thread, and some threads with Parks in progress, or something still alive gets bumped off the list, so that dies as well. This eventually leads to a dead forum.
