But really the rails are made of metal and there are metal beams connecting the supports to the track.

I think what distinguishes a wooden coaster from a steel is the support.
My first coaster-SooperDooperLooper at Hershey.

If you haven't ridden a Schwarzkopf you haven't lived.

Ibeams are often used in construction of modern wooden coasters, albeit not as much Outlaw run seems to use them.

I disagree. Gravity Group (and now GCI) has used steel support structures in the past on coasters that are considered wooden.

That said, just because Outlaw Run uses a different kind of track does not make it a steel or hybrid coaster. Topper track is simply another kind of wood track just as Intamin's double-spline and B&M's box track are different kinds of steel coaster.
