So I download custom scenery or buildings like the Test Track one and i get a .dat file.

Where do I put it? Please give me a step by step tutorial.

When you download custom scenery you will either get a folder or a .rar file
if you have a folder:
1: go into atari
2: go into rct3
3: go into style
4: go into themed
it should be placed there
BONUS:
if you have a readme file inside it delete it. also if you have extra folders not needed delete them
IF YOU HAVE A .RAR FOLDER
follow the exact same instructions with an addition
1: you will need to download WINRAR

Those were great instructions Andrew.

If I could add: after extracting (if needed) and before installing CS take a copy of the folder for backup. That way you will only delete files/folders from the copies to be installed. Your backup copies will be available without the need to redownload with the readme's (and anything else) still there to remind you what to do next time.
