My RollerCoaster Tycoon disc isn't working, PLEASE HELP!

#1
I have RCT1 & a disc that has Corkscrew Follies & Loopy Landscapes, but not the original game, this is known as the "Expansion 2 Pack".

Well, one day I had RCT1: Expansion 2 Pack in my laptop and I accidentally bounced the laptop and it scratched the disc in a circular motion. After that, whenever I put the disc in, my computer froze up, but whenever I clicked the icon on my desktop, put the disc in, then it would start up. The expansions would then work.

As some of you know that I recently restored my WHOLE system. Well the problem is that after I installed the RCT1 disc, I went to install the Expansion 2 Pack, but all the computer does is make funky noises while trying to read the disc, and nothing shows up in My Computer.

I really want to install the expansions so I have more parks and stuff, can you help me fix this?

Released in 1999 RCT1 is indeed old. However I am unable to just idle along while a fellow board member suffers the inconvenience of being able to uninstall his game. I suggest that what’s happened is that when you inadvertently dropped your laptop and scratched your disk the scratch got made over an area of the disk that the installer uses during installation. I am suggesting this because you were able to play your already installed game with the same scratched disk which would mean the part of the disk the game needs to read to see that the expansion disk is actually in the disk drive (each time you launch the game), that part of the disk is fine.

If the scratch is on the clear side and not on the side with the label I’d recommend you remove the scratch on the CD with a CD scratch remover kit. If the scratch is on the label side take a close look on the clear side (the silver side) to see if the scratch can be seen through the label. If you really can’t tell turn off all the lights but one and hold the disk up to the light you left on to see if the scratch on the label can be seen. If you’ve scratched through the label the data on the disk has been damaged and it can’t be repaired.

Possibly you could borrow someone’s expansion disk just to get your game installed after which you should be able to continue to

I'd then consider buying another copy of RCT1 with expansions (they're available quite inexpensively now) and then getting the RCT1 no CD crack.

The cheapest way is to run the disc under a cold tap. It doesn't scratch it; it always works for me. But obviously dry it afterwards. Smile

FlighttoAtlantis: Firstly, I do have a CD repair kit, but I haven't had the chance to use it yet. Secondly, any purchase I make will be for RCT2, not RCT1.

Thanks for your help guys Wink

I would love to have RCT2 because you can create your own scenarios and have unlimited money, unlike the original, where you only can play Chris' parks and you only have a certain amount of money. I do like challenges, but I also love to build to my heart's desire, that is why I really want RCT2. Soon I will have my own card, so I can get RCT2: Triple Thrill Pack shipped to my house, because I cannot find it anywhere, besides online.
