Custom Parks Wont Load

#1
I have a question for you guys: When I try to load up a downloaded scenario, it just crashes to desktop(with music still playing). Why is this?

My system specs:
Pentium Dual-Core T3400
2GB DDR2 RAM
2x160GB HDD
Nvidia GeForce 9400M G
Windows Vista Home Ultimate (32bit)
16' Screen(WXGA max res 1366 x 768)
(and this is a Laptop. Model : F50GX(ASUS) PR061G
And I'm using RCT3P.(or as some noobs will need to know its Rollercoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum).

This could be a problem with the file. Usually the file you download of the park is a raw data file (.dat) but for some reason the game saves a useless second file with a .bak extension. Some people post the bak instead of the dat and if that is the case, obviously it wont work. Why must frontier send everyone over the edge with these features.

I was going to post a custom park but I can't now because the .dat file is missing and I only have the .bak file. But, the park still works. I think .bak is a backup file in case .dat is corrupted or lost.

Is there a way to get the bak. file? Or do posters have to actually post the bak. file with it? If its the 2nd one, whats the use on downloading from here as most(or all of the files) dont have the bak file. AngryAngryAngry

You don't have to have the bak because form what i see, its useless and irrelevant. If you try to load the wrong file then it will crash your game.

I just noticed that my working parks are saved as both .dat AND .dat.bak. I think that both files are needed for the parks to load. I made a park that I use for testing. I'll upload both files in a compressed folder. Lets see what happens when it is downloaded.

Like i said, the bak is useless. Only the dat will load in your game, regardless of weather the bak is present or not.

I just found that out. Though I did notice that the park loaded faster with the bak file.
I just found a .fc file. It's rct3.fc. What is it?

But when I do try to load up a custom park/scenario, it just crashes, regardless if I have the dat. and bak. files.
So whats the use. Only the custom rides and etc open. Not the parks.
