Celebrating 8 Years - January 30, 2013

#1
Hello everyone!

I'm pleased to say that 8 years ago today, RCTgo was founded - though it was not the RCTgo you know and love today. Much has changed in the years that have passed since January 30, 2005, but one thing remains the same: we continue to be dedicated to providing the best place to share, discuss, and explore everything related to RollerCoaster Tycoon and theme park games. This is the reason we continue to exist.

Today, I would just like to thank everyone who continues to visit RCTgo. Without you, we wouldn't still be here today. Instead of grinding to a halt like some once thriving RCT websites, RCTgo continues to grow - 2012 was our largest year yet, serving over 5 million page views to hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Once again, thank you! With your continued support, RCTgo will have yet another great year.

Justin

Unfortunately I don't have any screenshots from back then... lost those files a long time ago.

This seems to be the earliest record, from 2006: http://web.archive.org/web/2006040300083...rctgo.com/
That was RCTgo 2.0, but it looks like a lot of the images and styles are missing.

Here's a later one - RCTgo 2.5. Again a lot of images missing. http://web.archive.org/web/2006111523443...rctgo.com/?

Edit:
I just found a bunch of screenshots from RCTgo 3.5 - I've uploaded them here: http://files.jsoltesz.com/rctgo/3.5/

I wouldn't really say it was hard - just new. I'd never built a website before. Smile

Yes, congratulations on 8 years of growth.

What brought you to the choice to begin this website, Justin? How is it you believed we needed a better site than the others that were around all those years ago? Do you feel you’ve achieved what you’ve written in the quote above?
