'Adrenaline' original wooden hyper coaster - nsterken - Sep 20, 2013

Hi, I'm nsterken. I downloaded the RCT3 demo a week ago and built some coasters and thought it was a fun game: I cannot believe I never played this game until now! Anyways, I bought the game this morning and built the first wooden coaster I built in the demo but to the nine's. The result: Adrenaline!

Not sure if there is such a thing as a wooden hyper coaster but I would love to start seeing them. I would think they would need to be hybrid type coasters with steel reinforcing support to withstand the physics of the monster ride but when I learn how to custom the stuff I might do that unless someone has some more accurate information/research/resources on the subject.

Anyways, here is the YouTube vid:

Adrenaline is a heart-stopping, merciless wooden beast that does not let up. Pushing riders to the threshold, this coaster is big on thrills, chills and whiplash. Screaming along the rickety, noisy track at speeds in excess of 75 mph, Adrenaline lives up to its name and then some. Not for the faint of heart!

PERFORMANCE IN PARK SITUATION

I call this version 0.5 because while it is not a beta, it is not a complete masterpiece, either. I bought the game today and this is my first coaster so I still have to learn how to do all the customization and stuff.

However, in a brief sandbox situation, teen peeps and twenty something peeps with high intensity preferences rode it over and over and it did quite well. The large train does quite well at accomodating a large amount of guests and I set the operations to a full ride but to leave when the other train returns to the station. Moves a lot of peeps through the ride.

The final hill sits on a side that is convenient for editing the height of the plunge which is where Adrenaline gets all of its initial momentum: the rest of the ride simply maintains and invigorates said momentum. The unique thing about the coaster is that with this setup, you can then control almost all of the factors of the coaster with a slight tweak of the drop height: the drop can still be lowered a notch or so and the train will still conquer the track, simply with less gusto. Which will attract more peeps.

I built this as a wooden hyper coaster that I would love to ride over and over again: but I'm not sure I would be able to get on it the first time LOL. It is terrifying. I'll add the download link soon. Check here for updates. Smile

I'm glad you like it! I am still getting ready to upload it but I will host it here with open permissions for ppl to re-upload and edit as they wish. Still trying to figure out how I want to do it: I may simply upload the plain track file or I may upload the park that I have put it in and folks can extract the ride from that. Which would you prefer?

Interesting. Was this simply a really big wooden coaster or was it steel re-enforced as well? I live by Six Flags Chicago and next year they are going to premiere a wooden hyper named Goliath that shares stats almost equal to my Adrenaline coaster. It's a little smaller than my coaster but not much. Wonder if it will suffer those structural issues which you mentioned.

For starters, the reason the Son of Beast was demolished was technical, not structural. The ride never had any structural issues, except for a split track that was fixed, which Kings Island decided to avoid a split track by getting lighter trains, which in turn made them remove the loop.

No as for Goliath, I have no idea how it will fare, but I have high hopes for it after seeing the impressive results of The New Texas Giant, Outlaw Run, and Iron Rattler. All of these I have been on and I have a feeling Rocky Mountain will pull this coaster off, so I wouldn't worry too much. Smile

The simulation of Goliath defenitely looks wild. I've never been on such a monstrous wood coaster but I could imagine it must be pretty exciting and probably terrifying!

That sounds awesome. It may be a little while before you can download it as I want to enter it into the Build It competition. I had a different and smaller wood coaster prepared for this week's build it coaster but alas, I missed the deadline and will have to wait. So I perhaps will enter Adrenaline in the next competition and then, it will be available for download.
