ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman riding a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas, plummeted to her death Friday evening around 6:45.

It happened on The Texas Giant, the tallest steel-hybrid roller coaster in the world.

Six Flags spokesperson Sharon Parker sent the following statement to CBS 11 via email.

We are deeply saddened to share that earlier this evening an adult woman died in the park while on the Texas Giant. Park medical staff and local paramedics responded immediately. Since the safety of our guests and employees is our number one priority, the ride has been closed pending further investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends during this difficult time.

Here is a newscast of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2NTpWxrx9Q

From what I've heard is that the restraint didn't lock properly, and opened up on the ride and she flew out.

Any thoughts or anything else you guys know?

orange dude, I had no idea about that. Imagine that moment when you just come out of the seat and start falling, knowing that you are going to die.

Eye witnesses on a few sites are saying that she fell forward and bounced off the rail so on a lighter note atleast the coaster didint run over her that could of derailed and caused alot worse.

yeah extremely scary! i wouldn't know what to do or anything. Someone who witnessed the person falling out of their seat posted on twitter about it. Also, people said that the person fell off when the train went over the first curve to the left right after the drop.

I've been reading a bit, and she said that the restraint only 'clicked' once, when it should twice. She asked the ride OP's to come and check but they said she was fine for the ride and it would be safe.

You guys know, that most deaths will happen because of careless employees? Keep this family in your prayers.
Yes, I'm just as ticked off as you all, but, sometimes even when your ticked off at some guy, you gotta forgive them.
But I hope he gets the right punishment if one at all.

We dont know if it really was the employee fault. Sometimes a bolt or a srew falls off the ride, and the park engineer wont know intell the next day.it happens a lot and we dont know about. but dont blam anybody because we dont know what really happen. Keep the family in your prayers.

Very sad story, praying for the family. Weird how this happened on the same day as Shoot the Rapids incident.
