If this a new install with nothing custom added as yet? Has this install ever launched successfully before?

Try launching the game directly from the .exe file in the Program Files folder. Sometimes the launcher or the shortcut created during install are faulty. If you still get the error message is it the same error message or a different one?

I try change compatibility for Windows XP Service Pack 3, but my Steam don't open de game, saying other game instance is launched.

If another instance is already launched, to close it push Alt+CTRL+Delete at the same time. Task Manager will open. Click on the process tab. Find the RCT3 process, right click on it and click End Process. Then click yes to confirm.

Then try running the game in Compatibility Mode.

If that didn't work you can also try running Steam in compatibility mode.

To do this find the Steam program in your list of programs. Right click on it and select Properties. Click on the Shortcut tab then the Find Target button. It will open a window showing the Steam.exe file.

Right click on the Steam.exe file and click on properties. Then click on the Compatibility tab. There you can change it. Always reboot your computer when making changes to programs that are always running.

In addition to these excellent suggestions you can also try this:

Ensure there are no instances of RCT3 running. Minimize all windows on your desktop.

Click “Start” at the bottom left of your screen.

Right click “My Computer”

Click on “Properties”

Select the “Advanced” tab.

In the section “Performance” click “Settings”

Select “Data Execution Prevention” tab

Select the option to “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:”

Select “Add”

Browse to your RCT3.exe file in Program files. Add the file to your DEP list in this way.

Click “OK” and continue clicking “OK” until your desktop is clear.

Try launching RCT3.

I had a similar problem, also with RT3. I fixed them both by the following -

1) Downloaded the program to my desktop - not in program files.
It worked for a bit but I would get a black screen after just a few minutes.
2) This part took me a while to figure out how to do it - I updated my video card. Most people will run out and buy the next best video card only to find out it still won't work. PLEASE save your money and try to update your current card FIRST. I have a laptop and everyone said you can't replace the video card in a laptop. They are right. I just updated mine. Scary thing because I am not too savvy on that sort of thing.

I've been playing with settings just above normal with high resolution with out a single problem.

I hope this helps.
