Hey guys.
I was hastily browsing for any updates on RCT4 when I came across this
article I read at the Atari Forums named "Something Not Said About RCT4".
Then my internal dialogue thinks:
"Oh yeah. There's a lot of things that are not said about RCT4."
So I read it
Truly, I'm speechless right on what to say.
But this I can tell you.
He had the nerve of posting powerful article on the Atari Forums on the wrong forum group. (When it was actually supposed to be posted on
RCT3 Wish Lists and Expansion Pack Ideas.)
To summarize, I think this Lengo really wants to Chris Sawyer to continue working with his projects, especially RCT4.
Thanks Lengo For Posting This!

Lengo Wrote:RCT3 is a fine game! It is perhaps the most entertaining and most ambitious games ever to hit the market, and that market has been in existance for over 25 years now. With the Platinum Edition which includes Soaked! And Wild!, you get 5 (am I forgetting any) themes. You can build a lovely theme park that would make Walt Disney proud! The environment you create is breathtakingly beautiful and highly entertaining to absolutely any observer.
There are three basic modes to play in - Be a Tycoon, or Just Build a Park, or Build a Scenario. In any of these modes, this game is highly entertaining. It provides for those who want to test themselves at any level. This is good. Very good!
There are literally hundreds of different animations going on in this game at times, and every single one is rendered believably, beautifully, and charming. You can watch zoo animals that are stunningly wonderful! You can watch a dolphin show, a whale show, a lion taming show (very cute), and visit aquariums too. Then there's the peeps themselves, which you can tease and taunt, and even torture if you desire. There are literally hundreds of different animations going on besides just rides and coasters! This provides you with plenty of hours of differing, highly entertaining material. I highly applaud these.
Try these -
1. Stand high with your and look straight down on your peeps, just high enough to get some detail in your peeps. Now, drop a lion. Watch the peeps spread like ants, in a realistic fashion. That's math in action.
2. Ride a coaster. That's all math too.
This is great physics modeling!
On top of the visuals, the sounds in this game are very thrilling, always convincing, and they are sprinkled with just the right amount of humor. And the thunder! The roar of a coaster going round a track! With uncanny physics behind it all. The design of this game is highly mathmatical, but all you see and hear is beauty! Who can resist the roar of roller coaster? Especially when that roar is timed to the visual that you created when you created that track!
Did I mention the fireworks show creation tools?
The game's music is very palatable too, and compared to music I've heard in other games, it gets very high marks. Much of the music is complex and well orchestrated. Some of it is exciting. Some of it is mellowing. This is a nice blend. Not inspiring, but nicely done.
Roller Coaster Tycoon is perhaps the most ambitious game ever created. There is simply a lot going on in it, and a lot more in it than any other game that is currently out there. Nothing even comes close. There are shooters. There are 'collect the goods' games like World of Warcraft. There's driving games. There's... 'one thing at a time' games. This is not so with Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Platinum. There are many things, all of which are absorbing.
This game has scenario making for the brainy bunch, and it has just plain charm and appeal for everyone, no matter their age or education level, brainy or not so brainy. It doesn't matter. This is a game you can love! There are thousands of hours of enjoyment in this remarkable work of software. Everyone should at least see the game in action at least once in their life. This is beauty that should not be missed. RCT3 is a remarkable piece of software engineering.
But, alas, it is not finished. It could stand improvements. The user interface could be stronger. It could stand improvements such as a larger palette of ground textures, still more tree types, and even more refinements that I'm probably not even aware of. But basically, it needs that final coat of polish to make this already very good game absolutely great! It has all the ambition, and it has already succeeded, but here are weaknesses that need to be addressed, and RCT4 could fix these. Sadly, the game is unfinished. Even sadder, RCT4 is not going to happen.
I find it very discouraging that business people cannot commit themselves to excellence. Chris Sawyer has already shown his ambition, and he quite a remarkable man. It is too bad that Atari wants to stand in the way of excellence and tolerate 'good enough', when excellence is so very close at hand. This saddens me. Yes, I like RCT3 very much! And Yes, I think it could be even better! I know it, in fact. I know the life cycle of development. You're so close now! Don't let the money counters tell you no. Don't let discouragement last indefinitely. Don't be disenheartened. See your vision through to completion.
When excellence is sacrificed for any reason, the world lacks art.
When excellence is sacrificed due to lack of commitment, the world is shown a bad example.
I congratulate Mr. Sawyer for his vision and this fine game. He has already demonstrated both high ambition and great skill. I regret that RCT4 won't be coming, but mostly, I regret that Mr. Sawyer's disappointment is probably even more than mine! I been there. I done that. I'm much older than he is. I understand this kind of frustration.
Should you happen to read this, sir, be advised to never give up! If an opportunity to complete this as you envisioned it arises, please take it. You will be among those few that include Michaelangelo, Walt Disney, Steven Spielberg, and Galileo Galilei. I strongly encourage you to see your ambition to fruition. Polish this one more time, please. You'll be even more highly acclaimed than you are now.
Set an example.
Truly, I'm speechless right on what to say.
