[WIP] Protos - Intamin Sci-Fi Coaster (UPDATE 2)

#11
Thanks guys! Haven't posted here in a while, and since I've finished another part of the scenery, I'll show that right now, as well as - finally - an overview of this section.

Towers are rising up from the hills as always.

Little valleys fill up the spaces between the high-rise structures.

And finally, the overview of this section. The coaster is far from done, but this section is almost there.

See you all again next time! Biggrin

Absolutely stunning ! I love how you merged the Supersplash track with your coaster. It's a clever match and a technique often overlooked you've made good use of. The theming is brilliant and very unique. I especially like the many interactions with the coaster, not only they are numerous, they feel quite varied, too. The tunnel emphasizes greatly your drop and I find the little arrows pointing in the layout's direction a nice and funny addition - it looks like it has been taken from some futuristic racing game. The overview doesn't disappoint as it shows a very exciting layout with lots of intersection with itself that never feels repetitive.

This is one of your best works I've seen so far, if not the best. Congrats ! Maybe you could make a one-off let's play about it ? It would be a nice change of scenery to display.

Cheers,

After receiving incredibly mixed feedback about the foliage, I decided to remove all of it and continue without for a couple of months. In hindsight, the vibrant colours were probably too out of this world and contrasting with the buildings to work. But I guess I also created expectations that this ride would be placed in a cold, Martian desert industrial complex - which is why expectations were completely shattered after the huge apparent twist.

However, it has always been my plan to incorporate foliage, since this is supposed to be on a much more exotic planet than, for example, Mars. So, after experimenting for a while, I've finally settled on a rustic colour palette foliage that largely resemble the colours of the rocks (which have gotten a slight Shyguy's Rocks update, too). I'll still take criticism seriously, though, and it was after all the feedback which convinced me to completely redo the foliage, but I do intend on sing foliage. However, I may still add small changes to it.

Onto the actual ride now! The four hills have all been finished for a great part now. The first (lifthill)hill has gotten some new scenery and the lifthill has been recoloured:

The second hill, where all the track has been changed from purple to light- and dark blue:

This third hill is quite new I believe. Well, here's an introduction:

And finally, the last and newest hill, whih in terms of skyline, is probably my favourite after the lifthill-hill.

This area looks quite different now (I'm still looking for something to place on the tower on the left, haha)

This valley still makes for some of my favourite shots.

Seriously.

A new building looking over the lake in the middle of the park has risen up from the hillside here.

And last but not least, an overview! The coaster doesn't look that huge here, but there's some hidden track, and the total runtime is just under 5 minutes.

Thanks for looking at my ancient thread here, and feedback is welcome!

"any feedback"?!

As maybe the most critical person in the whole RCT-world i can't say anything bad/negative about this!
And if i can't find something negative, than i would guess, no one else find something, too.

Protos' was really good in the past, but that you start a whole rework of it and put so much effort into it, that's really amazing.

Most people create something, finish it, and close the door. But you work on older designs from time to time and rework/redesign it. That's really rare in the RCT-scene.
But we all can see the result.

I can't say if it looks better than the old version.
Maybe with your explanations in mind, i would say it looks better than the old one Smile
It definitely has this industrial outer space feeling.

This looks it comes from outer space!
Maybe Silvarret isn't a human, he could be a dutch-alien species from a galaxy, far far away Biggrin
(Chewie, is it you?)

To be serious, great kind of art and design.
If there wasn't a coaster there, the whole thing would look great, too.

I don't know what' your job is or will be in the future, but think about it to go for architecture.
You have this amazing talent if ot comes to buildings!
This talent should be promoted, because it's a given.

So long, Cobra
Keep it everytime fair and with enough respect for each other!
