I had this game years ago and have just bought the steam version for the expansion packs!

I have no sound effects at all? I get music for each ride when zoomed in on the ride, and I get the overlay music when I zoom out. Apart from that I have no ride noises, no balloon popping noises, no crowd noises?

Any idea? All volumes are turned up and I run loads of other games with no problem. My sound card is a Xonar D2X with the latest drivers.

Interesting. This is a problem I haven't come across yet. My best guess is that the audio files are corrupted. Look into your C:/Program Files[(x86) if you have it]/Atari/RollerCoaster Tycoon 3/Sounds folder and see if you have them there. you should have Sounds.common.ovl and Sounds.unique.ovl. If these files corrupted or missing, that would be the problem.

The reason is simple. The music files are in a different folder: Music. This could be why you get the music playing, but not the sounds.

If you are missing these files or if you think they might be corrupted, let me know. I can advise you from there.
