Hi all!The Name's Q, and just wanted to say hey to the community. Love the work, and have been totally enjoying the videos of your creations on youtube.
Is this the proper place for challenges?
I have spent a boatload of time in Phoenix, having moved there when I was a mere tyke (10 years old), that was pretty much in the stone age in 1980.
There's a theme park which went by the name of "Legend City" there, that attempted to create a Disneyland type of atmosphere in the desert. NOT the brightest of moves, in my opinion, because they forgot one thing: THE HEAT. With 4+ months of 110+ degree temperature during prime theme park visiting season, the park ended up failing pretty miserably.
In it's wake is a carcass - I've attached what's left of the relatively small area that's been cannibalized for nearby businesses (about 1500'x1500'), and an adjacent lot (to the left and down) which contains a clear parcel about the same size south of it.
Now I am wondering - Do you do user initiated challenges here for RCT3?
Why I ask: Understanding the logistical issues they encountered - heat, small lot size, and trying to compete with Disney is an exercise in futility - do you think you could build a virtual theme park which addresses these issues and stands out on it's own for uniqueness which makes Phoenix a destination location for theme parks?
Now here's some requirements:
#1) The MAJORITY of this theme park HAS to be underground, because it's in the flight path of Sky Harbor airport, with quite literally a 4 story restriction on height.
#2) NO PARKING facilities or infrastructure will be necessary. There's a light rail in the area, and this could be used to promote the use of the light rail.
#3) THE NAME of the park is "The City OF Magic" and the theme should attempt to satisfy ADULTS as well as children and the consumer demand for advanced space (think: Space mountain AND Fallout the video game), superheroes (ie: XMen), magic and supernatural based on the movies and tv shows. (For Example: Theme design similar to Harry Potter by MGM or feel' similar to Haunted Mansion and/or Pirates of the Carribean)
#4) Making ingenious travel between the two major sections of the park (IE: people movers and Half Life style trams) would be super cool.
#5) IT HAS to leverage elements of current popular fantasy and science fiction VIDEO GAMES, MOVIES, AND TV SHOWS
#6) Air conditioning costs must be taken into great consideration for building rides and corridors. No stale air, ventilation is a must, and natural ventilation must be considered too JUST in case there's a breakdown in electrical power. (That is, if you're building a splash mountain, then building that next to walking corridors would be really smart, right?)
#7) HIDDEN EMPLOYEE WORKING AND BREAK SPACE MUST be provided in the design (and do NOT break the illusion of the 'area' of the park you're in.
#8) YES, I am going to attempt to seek funding for this and include you in on it (if you want)
#9) WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A THEATRE, it CANNOT LEVERAGE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY if it DOES NOT look natural within the scene. (eg: not having 2d flat screens depicting elements in place of what should be hand created as 3d objects )
And some NICE to haves:
#1) IT HAS to encourage natural ventilation
#2) IT HAS TO be technological feasible.
I know. New User, I am asking a lot.
I love Phoenix. And am currently a homeless former programmer for the government, and am only trying to think of ways to get me off the street. Walt Disney did something amazing for Los Angeles. I'd merely like to honor the city i love based on my desire to put it on the map for being the innovator of the next generation of technology and innovative fun..... I know, it's a tall order to fill.

If you shift to the left of the map, there's the other property. And there's a light rail that literally runs right in front of the street. That and an all nude bar, which you know I'll be visiting during construction if WE can get this off the ground.
