Hi everyone!

First time to this site. I have been playing all the RCT games for what seems forever! Ill admit that i haven't played RCT3 for a few years...but a recent Amusement Park Visit binge (Disneyland, WDW Magic Kingdom, Disney Studios, Epcot, California Adventures, Blizzard Beach, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios Hollywood..all within the past 3 months!) has renewed my interest in theme park simulators. I work in the construction industry, so 90% of my attention, while visiting these parks, was on the sheer insanity of what it must have taken to build these parks. I consider myself a "amateur imagineer", so I'm very interested in getting involved with the "recreation" aspect of this game.

I do have to admit, I'm not totally up to speed with the mod'ing for this game (CS, CTR, etc...i really don't know what these are). Can someone point me to a discussion topic that might better explain what these are and how to use them?

Any help would be much appreciated!

All the best,

-Ford

CS is Custom Scenery. This is, for the most part, scenery that you have to download in order to use in the game. I'm not familiar with the details regarding how to install them so that they work in the game properly, as I am predominantly a RCT2 player and I only use the scenery the game provides, but I was able to locate a list of websites from which to download custom scenery posted by aecrouch7413. Click here for the list.

CTR stands for Custom Track Ride. These are essentially ride trains that you can download to use on your coasters in place of the trains provided in the game. From the looks of this site, CTR also encompasses custom track types that are not available in the game. Again, I have never downloaded one of these, but they are quite popular here, especially in the Build It competition.

There's also such a thing as a CFR, which is a Custom Flat Ride. These seem to be the downloadable variations of smaller amusement park rides that cannot be customized using a track editor the way roller coasters and other tracked rides can be. This would be an example of a CFR.

Someone really needs to put this information in an obvious place so I can at least check to make sure I'm partially correct about some of this. If it is already in an obvious place, it needs to be even more obvious.

Hi Ford,

Welcome. To expand on what Terry Inferno was talking about. If you are able to watch Youtube, there are some great tutorials that will help you. One user: Silvarret has a series that has taught me a lot. Here is a link to his channel https://www.youtube.com/user/Silvarret

If I want to use custom scenery objects (cs or cso), custom tracks (ctr) and custom flat rides (cfr) I ususally get them from The Custom Scenery Depot Website http://www.customscenerydepot.com/index....=downloads

How to install and find custom scenery by Silvarret
https://youtu.be/fU0mukcrmBc

Here is a general link on how to install custom flat rides and custom tracks (so you can browse through them)

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_q...rides+rct3

I hope that helps and please share your work with us.

Hey Ford,

Welcome to RCTgo!
Like you, I'm relatively new as well, joined up this month, and already learned more than I have in the past 10 years playing the game solo.
I'm sure as you watch tutorials and see the posts here, there's a lot more to building good rollercoasters than what it seems.

I'm looking forward to see what recreation parks you come up with. Be sure to share them with us through screenshots!
Best of luck and most of fun,
Loco
