So I try to switch to desktop version on my phone. I tap it, but after it finishes loading it sends me back to the mobile version. Help, please?

I experience the same thing. I think Justin is working on some changes for the website. Not sure though.
That happened to me, you have to change the default theme in your settings.

Go to Your Account (UCP), Edit Options, and set your Board Style to "Use Default" -- this should, hopefully, take care of the issue.
The new forums theme currently under development will no longer require a separate mobile theme (it will be fully mobile-friendly), but unfortunately it is not yet finished.
