I came across 2 keyboard shortcuts that are not listed in the games options. They are very helpful when building or placing shops and really streamline the process.

Shift: Before you place an object, if you hold shift and move your mouse up/down, you can raise/lower its height.

Ctrl: Before placing an object, if you hold ctrl and move the object around the map, it will be locked at its current elevation. Useful for building off the edges of hills/cliffs or matching the height of pathways.

Figured id drop this here in case it helps anyone because these two features really made things much easier for me.
