Crush My 307!

#1
Saw this on the Top Gear website, someone has a brand new Peugeot 307, and wants to crush it into a cube and deliver it back to the dealer! :P

The guy running the site wants to raise £13k to buy a Toyota, and anything over goes to charity. Might be worth £1 to help him on his way, just to see the dealers reaction when / if he crushes the car :P

I had a car like that. I bought a £20,000 Smart Roadster Brabus. Ohhh the problems that it brang, and I kept a list. I pitty the person who bought it after me, because it was sold back to the dealer.

I purchased the car on the 21st January 2005, and look at the date of the first fault...

Here we go:

Friday 21st January 2005:
Warning lights on dashboard for Traction Control and ABS systems

Went back into be fixed minutes after I picked it up.

Saturday 22nd January 2005:
Paddle shift on steering wheel not working

Auto gearbox having trouble selecting driving gears

Unable to select manual gearshift

Speed limiter would not turn off â Stuck on at 40 MPH

Vehicle overheating

Windscreen wipers sticking

AA called to vehicle

Sunday 23rd January 2005:
Vehicle towed back to garage for above faults to be fixed

Tuesday 25th January 2005:
CD Changer unit intermittently fails to load a CD â When it does, it keeps on skipping

Wednesday 26th January 2005:
Clutch problems â car jumps forward when you bring foot off accelerator to come to a Stop. Jumps forward again when you try to move away

Water gets into rear centre break light on the spoiler

Top of the rear right light cluster is cracked

Garage informed of above faults to be fixed the following Thursday

Saturday 29th January 2005:
Roof panels rattle loose while driving and leak water, leading to the seats being stained

Water also leaks in near the passenger side mirror

Door seal on passenger side has split

Sunday 30th January 2005:
Vehicle overheated again â Could not be driven, as before, there is a total loss of power. Vehicle has to be stopped and left to cool for 5-10 minutes before it will start and drive off again

Monday 31st January 2005:
Interior panelling rattling loose just behind seats

Thursday 3rd February 2005:
Car goes in to be repaired again â No courtesy car available for use until the Friday, despite the garage having one weeks notice of the carâs arrival.

Tuesday 8th March 2005:
Car finally ready to be collected, for all of the above to be repaired. Vehicle was taken back 3 hours after collection due to the gearbox failing to select reverse gear.

Wednesday 9th March 2005:
Carâs brake lights donât come on unless brake pedal is pushed right the way down

Thursday 10th March 2005:
Above fault comes back again today. Roof panelâs hinges were also covered in silicone grease, which leaked onto the cars upholstery and roof panels, as well as the mounting brackets at the back of the car

Friday 11th March 2005:
Steering column has started to rattle and appears to be grinding on something. Underneath the left indicator stalk, part of the cars panelling has started to come away from the vehicleâs steering column.

The centre armrest is still brokenâ¦

Sunday 13th March 2005:
Car's Turbo cracks after 300 miles of driving. Caused total lock of rear driving wheels, resulting in 3 car side impact. Cars collected from the roadside and taken to the dealer the following day.

Monday 14th March 2005:
Dealer assesed car. Needs new engine, turbo, intercooler, radiator, rear differential, various body pannels and windows. ETA on repair is in excess of 20 weeks because of delays on parts. Mercedes of Milton Keynes refuse courtsey car.

Wednesday 16th March 2005:
Purchased Seat Ibiza FR

Friday 18th March 2005:
Insurance company look a car, ETA on repair is in excess of £8000. Mercedes are authorised to repair vehicle, even with 20 weeks ETA on completion, and no replacement car.

Various letters were sent between myself and Mercedes until...

Thursday 14th April 2005:
Garage agree to refund almost all of the car, never seen the car again. From the time of purchase to the last day I saw the car, she had only covered a little more than 300 miles from new, and run up a sizeable list of faults to boot.

The Seat on the otherhand, is now 18 months old, and as yet, has not needed to go to te dealer for anything more than a service.
