NF Particle Effects - RELEASED!

#1
Yes, that's right, I have learnt how to make custom scenery! I'm already a pretty good modeller in Maya, but when you export from Maya it just screws everything up. So I decided to make a simpler set of objects using MilkShape instead.

What I shall make are a series of quarter tile cubes which are invisible and each have a particle effect assigned to them. Some already exist in sets like JCat's Screamworx and hotroddude's Park Xtra's, but I thought it would be better if we had them all in one set rather than randomly all over the place.

This set will come in really handy for things like water fountains, as you will no longer need a continuous 24 hour MixMaster show if you want them in your park all the time. Splash particles will be useful for things like rapids to make the water look more ferocious. I will be making some particle effects specifically for Frozen Meltdown, such as blue and red smoke, etc.

If you have any ideas for particle effects to use, please suggest them here. I will include all the main ones already in the RCT3/Particle Effects folder, plus I will make some of my own using the AFE. Just don't suggest anything too complicated...

And if you were wondering, I have already succesfully imported a fire particle cube thingy into RCT3, and it works fine, so I know what I'm doing.

P.S. Sorry for providing competition for your thread Turbo Tortoise.

Well, I'm hardly a 'builder'. All I've made is a cube.
But anyway, here's a post copied from the first post in my thread on the Atari Forums:

So far I've just used the existing in-game particle effects, but I plan to make some of my own using the AFE as well. Already I have:
  • Bubbles - These will be great for pretend underwater rides.
  • Fountains - To avoid the need for 24 hour MixMaster shows (see pic below).
  • Splash particles - To mkae river rapids look more like rapids.
  • Fire - Just some different fire particles to use (see pic below). The only one I'm having trouble with here is the DemonFlame particle, because it goes out sideways I'm unable to get the actual particle to rotate.
  • Volcano - Some more fire effects which can be used for volcanos (I've really made these so I can use them in Frozen Meltdown, as they're great for hellish themes (see pic below)).
  • Explosions - Different sized continuous explosions.
  • Steam - One steam particle.
  • Electric Particle - Similar to one in ScreamWorx, just different.

^ How some of the fountains look in-game. (you can also see some spalsh particles under the fountain, but I think they make it look weird)

^ Some fire and volcano effects used on Frozen Meltdown.

I now plan to make some lava effects (sort of like the water fountains but with lava) as well as some different coloured smoke particles. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas please let me know.

And a picture showing the size variations of different fountains:

More to come soon! (should be released by weekend)

Wow, this is really cool! There aren't enough particles in RCT3, so any new ones would be great.

I apoligize for posting on the Atari forums on this thread more thatn I do here, so you've been missing out on some pictures. Although over there people can give me more help and useful suggestions, and I really don't have time to post updates both here and there. But still, here's the latest updates: (special thanks to Shaun Allsop for lending me his park to use the first three in)

^ Some water fountains used on a rapids ride.

^ Volcano particles in an underground mine.

^ An exploding western building!

^ A picture showing my waterfall particles, which can be positioned at any height and width you want (I've also made a verticle one).

^ The waterfalls again.

^ The new large water fountain, made up of nine particles (one straight one, four angled ones and four diagonal angled ones).

^ A view from above showing the circular shape of the fountains.

^ 11 different coloured smoke effects I've made. I will release these in a seperate set (not for a while though) along with 11 more less dense ones.

Here are the pics of the water, blood red and lava waterfalls. They are of the same waterfall but with a different particle. The waterfall shown is also diagonal, but for each type of waterfall there are horizontal, angled, verticle, horizontal diagonal and angled diagonal versions.

^ The water waterfall.

^ The blood red waterfall (would look better in the right environment).

^ The lava waterfall (again, it would look ebtter if it was in a hellish themed area).

More to come soon!
