RCT3 Platinum crashes at 90% collecting Recources

#1
I have RCT3 Platinum. When I install it, the game works fine, if I replace the RCT3plus with the one that stops the c++ runtime error.
But when I restart the computer, it gets to 90% in collecting resources and then crashes, asking me if I want to send an error report.
I have tried with both runtime error fix RCT3plus and the no CD version of RCT3plus, both of which unsuccesful.
This hasn't been going on for long, it just randomly started after I had reinstalled the game (a friend of mine had screwed up some files).
I am running under Windows XP Professional, SP3. Dell VOSTRO 220S with 3GB of RAM.

I greatly miss my game and would realy appreciate it if any of you guys could help me.

Thanks in advance,

Have you tried re-re-installing the game?

Your game may have installed improperly (corrupted or missing file)

If re installing doesn't fix this, your disk may have been damaged.

I've tried uninstalling it, reinstalling it and anything else I have thought of (copying files onto a flash drive and running the game off there) and the disc works fine on other computers I've used. I've run virus scans and anything else that might take away a bug stopping it from working, but still nothing.

Maybe it's your video card?

Can't be- it works fine when I install it, but after The computer is turned on the next time, it doesn't. Also, I have a 512mb ATI Radeon video card, but I'm updating the drivers now just to make sure.
And My disc can't be the problem, the same thing happens with the no cd crack. (I don't care whether the cd needs to be in or out, I just want my game back!)

I have found the solution! But unfortunately, I have no idea what it means or how I deal with it. This is what it came up with after the 5th instalment of the game:

Feature transfer error
Feature: USA_BUILD
Component: _Common
File: D:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cylic redundancy error).

What does this mean? I presume that it means that a file is corrupted on the CD, but none of my friends have this game, and I have no other computers with the Platinum version installed on it. Does anyone have this file that they could send to me? Or if this is all completely wrong, could you please tell me what it is?

Almost every piece installed into the game has a "Common.ovl" and "Unique.ovl". That has to have something to do with it, so something from the game may have been installed improperly. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to fix it. Frown

Okay, so if every piece has a 'Common.ovl' and a 'Unique.ovl', then that must mean that the 'Common.ovl' of the piece 'USA_BUILD' is corrupted. Yay! at least I know what I need to find. Thanks!
