Hello, my name is Terry. I build RCT2 tracks and parks, and I'm always interested in the RCT2 creations of others as well (RCT3 is okay too Wink)

I'm wondering, do people often submit RCT2 track designs in the BuildIt competition, or would I be at a slight disadvantage if I were to submit an entry from there?

Hi, Terry! Welcome to the RCTgo community!

It's nice to see someone who focus their efforts on RCT2 as the forums is filled with RCT3 stuff. However, despite the RCT3 saturation, you might be pleased to learn that there is also a big RCT2 community in the forums. Many people still submit their RCT1 and RCT2 tracks and parks, and

To answer your inquiry about BuildIt, many of the winners happen to be RCT3 coaster tracks with elaborate Custom Scenery sets, however it doesn't mean you cannot join. In fact, here at RCTgo we welcome track submissions from any of the three RCT games or NoLimits. Also, in my time playing RCT2 while my graphics card got broken (which meant no 3D games like RCT3), I was amazed by all the scenery available. You might want to use all of that beautiful scenery, and RCT2's terrain system, to create a beautiful coaster with scenery to match.

I will be looking forward to your creations and will download them if I can.

Again, welcome to RCTgo!

Welcome to RCTgo,

If you decide to enter a coaster in to Build it! there might be a slight disadvantage in using RCT2 coasters, but, I once one using a RCT2 coaster so it is not impossible. I am looking forward to seeing some of your creations.

Nerdygeek makes some very good points. However, if you're that concerned about any disadvantage, Terry, you could consider importing your RCT2 coasters into RCT3 and progress your entry from there.

Thank you all for welcoming me to this fine community! I see my elaborate designs will not go unappreciated here.

In response to nerdygeekrct, I do use quite a bit of scenery in my parks when I can afford it (I create most of my designs in parks I design from scratch so I can turn the money option off; there is no "sandbox" mode in RCT2). So much, in fact, that I can't save the track designs with the scenery. I will, however, be putting my parks up for download once I finish my first masterpiece, and I will attempt to throw together some videos of the rides so you can see what they're like in case you don't wish to download them.

The reason I don't play RCT3 much anymore is because I don't like the way the game is set up versus RCT2's set up. Mostly in terms of scenery. I love the coaster interface and how you can ride your own creations, but I find it more difficult to create elaborate scenery designs exactly how you want them. I will say though that I do sometimes wish coasters like the Extended Coaster and the Strata Coaster existed in RCT2. Wink
