Many of us don’t know that RCT started out as Transport Tycoon which Chris later developed into Locomotion, a game described on Wikipedia’s webpage
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Sawyer's_Locomotion:
The game allows the player to use railroads, trams, trucking lines, buses, airplanes and ships to earn money in a transport company between the years 1900 to 2100. It contains over 40 pre-designed scenarios and a scenario editor, and can also be played in multiplayer mode with another human-controlled competitor. The game is played in an 2D isometric view like the other games by Chris Sawyer, particularly RollerCoaster Tycoon, which uses the engine that was originally developed for Transport Tycoon.
The game was released in the U.S. on September 7, 2004 and a few days later in the rest of the world.
On this Wikipedia webpage
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Sawyer it says this about Chris Sawyer:
S
awyer's first management simulation game, Transport Tycoon, was released by Microprose in 1994 and became a classic of the tycoon series of games. A year later, he improved and extended the game, giving it the title Transport Tycoon Deluxe. Sawyer immediately sought to create a sequel. However, while still working on the basic game engine, Sawyer developed an interest in roller coasters, and changed the project into what would become RollerCoaster Tycoon, originally called White Knuckle before release. After creating RollerCoaster Tycoon, he resumed work on the sequel for Transport Tycoon, but again postponed it to create RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. Upon completing that project, he resumed his work on the Transport Tycoon sequel, finally releasing it in 2004 as Chris Sawyer's Locomotion.
There are references and external links at the bottom of that webpage that tell more about Chris Sawyer and his creations.

Does anyone know what Chris is doing now? I am hoping he isn't done with games yet.
I’m afraid there doesn’t seem to be any indication of what Chris is doing now.
There is a photo of Chris Sawyer on this webpage
http://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet...perId,788/ . It looks like a candid shot and from the quality of the image and Chris's appearance of agelessness it's probably not a recent shot.
I bought a copy of Locomotion knowing nothing about it, simply because it was beautifully marketed. After my great expectations and after my experience with RCT1, Locomotion was a let-down. The only things I liked about it were the music and the fact that the airplanes both departed and arrived on various areas of the map. I particularly didn’t like that the game was played with a time limit and I don’t recall there was any sandbox type option and don't recall there was any way to extend the size of the map. There was only one cheat available at the time for Locomotion and that was to add money to the game but I couldn’t get the cheat to work. Another downside was Locomotion looked less realistic than RCT1.
Locomotion just didn’t seem to be representative of Chris’s usual standards. My guess is Chris simply released Locomotion because it was the game that started it all and possibly he didn’t want to feel he had deserted it.
