RCT3 Can Ride Speeds be Increased?

#1
Is there an options.txt option, a cheat, an add-on or some other way to get a ride to go faster? Let’s say for example I want to build a chairlift in my park, that the default highest speed for chairlift is 11.18 kph but I want the chair lift to travel 20 kph. Is there some way to change this so the chairlift will travel faster than the highest speed that it comes with?

Yes they can. Here are ways you can do it:

Use a Lift Chain: Have a lift chain (doesn't matter which direction it's in. Flat, Med. Slope etc.) There will be two arrows at the bottom of the screen you use to make a coaster. Use the arrow pointing up to increase the speed of the lift chain. When your train goes onto it, it will increase the current speed to the speed you set the lift chain at.

Use Block Brakes: Same thing with the lift chain. Set the block brake speed at the speed you want and it will give you a boost. This is great for launched coasters.

If you want the speeds even higher, there are cheats to do that which can be found in the Games tab.

Just tell me if anything doesn't work. Smile

Wait, why did I post that. Oh well. Biggrin

I don't know... there might be an option CTR_Creator or a CTR that someone else made that allows you to do that.
Coasters I have done:
Wild Cowboy, Nordic,
and Legend of the Moon Dragon

I’m glad I asked. I’ll give your suggestions a whirl and let you know what happens.

All the time I’ve played RCT3 I would never have thought to add speed to a track section using block brakes! And I’ve always assumed lift chain was only available on sloped track sections. I think lift chain might have been like that in RCT2 so maybe I thought …..

Your suggestions worked very nicely. Thanks for your response.
