I don't know about you guys, but I've always loved the Surface. It's a really durable and beautiful device that is as portable as a tablet and powerful as a laptop. Now that there's a second generation coming out, I wanted to show it to you.
If you've never heard of the Surface before, it's a Windows 8 tablet that uses a thin keyboard cover and an integrated kickstand to make itself resemble a full laptop. Like most Windows 8 devices, it's touchscreen, allowing easy navigation in tablet mode, or use the trackpad a mouse in desktop mode. The second generation includes a dual-position kickstand, which is more suitable for a taller person. It's lighter, thinner, more powerful, and comes with some sweet new accessories.
So here's the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2
What's the difference, you may ask? Well, it's actually quite simple. Surface 2 is more of a tablet, while Surface Pro 2 is pretty much a full on laptop, but both look very similar to each other and share similar features. The only huge difference in the two is the Pro can support full Windows applications, whereas the regular only supports mobile apps from the Windows Store. That being said, the Surface 2 is better compared to an iPad or Android tablet, and the Surface Pro 2 is better against most notebook computers. As you could guess, theres about a $500 dollar price difference.
When you buy either device, you get an astonishing 200 GB of free Skydrive Storage, and free international Skype voice calls for a year. And now let's get to the accessories, which make the device stand out from the other tablet-PC's.
1. The docking station:
"Connect all of your favorite accessories to Surface Pro—an external monitor, Ethernet, speakers, full-size keyboard, printer and other peripherals. Instantly go from road warrior to desktop master."
2. Wireless adaptor for keyboard covers:
"Connect any Surface Typing Cover to Surface using Bluetooth® wireless technology. Type emails from the couch while Surface is plugged into your TV, or work collaboratively in the conference room."
3. Touch Cover 2:
"The same revolutionary dual-purpose keyboard and protective cover in one, but even lighter and thinner. A colorful, smooth exterior lets you type up to two times faster than onscreen. Type email, chat, and work."
4. Type Cover 2:
"Same super-thin, lightweight design of the original Type Cover, but now backlit and available in four colors. With a QWERTY keyboard, a full row of Function keys (F1-F12), shortcut keys, media controls, and trackpad."
5. Surface Music Kit:
"Take music and make it your own. Remix songs to create new tunes that are 100% you."
6. Arc Touch Mouse:
"Perfect for life on the go—that’s the Arc Touch Mouse. Comfortable, elegant, and eye-catching, with an innovative design that allows for quick use and storage. Enjoy a clutter-free work experience with BlueTrack Technology and precision control."
7. Car charger with USB port:
"Charge up your Surface while you’re on the go using the Car Charger with USB Port. Stuck in traffic between meetings? Give your Surface a charging boost. The Car Charger plugs into most car charging ports."
Of course if you want to see all the information about the device and how it stacks up to others, you can go to surface.com and watch videos, compare specs, or preorder yours now.
