Aspen Lake Timeline

Welcome to 1982! This year's attraction was Crooked House, adding to the newest section of the park. There appear to be two construction zones to the left of Corkscrew... Rumors have been swirling around the park about possible changes in 1983.

Construction has been completed in the off season, to much disappointment. 1983 did not bring a major ride, but two much needed flats- Buccaneer and Bumper Cars. A construction zone has been placed near the entrance, and there have been signs of change coming to Rumbling Racer for 1984.

Awesome! Awesome!

For the 1984 season, guests were able to experience Rumbling racer, one of the most popular rides at Aspen Lake, BACKWARDS! This unique experience greatly increased ridership in celebration of the ride's 5th anniversary. In other news, a new food court and emporium have been built across from the ride, facing the midway, new for 1984. Comments appreciated!

A big, long awaited addition has come for 1985. White Water Rapids, a tall splash boats ride, expanding the Childrens' area and bringing new foot traffic to that section of the park. The queue filled very quickly and emerged as one of the most popular rides in the park. In other news, a large construction area has been fenced, and Corkscrew has begun to show its age, with a fading paint job. Comments appreciated!

New for 1986 comes Aspen Lake's 4th roller coaster, Mega Twister. Mega Twister is a TOGO Heatline Twister Coaster, featuring two heartline rolls and a fast drop. For its opening season, Mega Twister experienced high ridership despite reports of a slightly rough ride. Corkscrew has remained very popular despite its showing signs of age with fading paint and it being rougher. The case hasn't been the same for Rumbling Racer, as it has experienced numerous breakdowns and has become quite rough, leading to a decreased popularity. A fence has gone up on the path across from Mega Twister, hinting at the new attraction for 1987. Comments appreciated!

New for 1987, Sky Ride, a chairlift spanning the width of the park. It has been very popular, providing views of the entire park and surrounding areas. Popularity is continuing to drop for Rumbling Racer, despite it being less than 10 years old. Comments appreciated!

Now for 1988, technically no "new" attractions, as the park has been saving money recently for future park expansion. However, Corkscrew has received some much needed offseason attention, with a new paint job and some re-tracking, it is running faster than ever (The trim brakes after the loop were loosened, providing a faster second half of the ride). Also, the last few hundred feet of track on Rumbling Racer has been altered, providing a faster finish with more of a "race" feel, as well as some re-tracking, and has been reportedly less rough. In other news, a very large construction zone has been fenced. Here is what the park has released about next year's attraction:

Type: Custom Looping
Manufacturer: Arrow Dynamics
Height: 115 feet
Highest Drop: 100 feet
Speed: 56 mph
Length: 2700 feet

This will be the first ever roller coaster at Aspen Lake to top 100 feet!

Okay, it is a bit similar to another ride of the same type from the same year, but I did what I could to customize it, especially the end. But seriously, can you blame me for using this particular ride as reference? Feedback appreciated as always, more updates to follow.
