Delightful Image of Balinese Rice Paddies

#1
Here's todays image on Bing's home page. I've put it here as I thought it might give someone ideas on how to come up with an unusual landscape in RCT3.

Most images of rice paddies are taken from a great distance and one never really sees their true character from afar. This is a most charming image because it's close up, for the first time I can see that the water in paddies is actually clear and not muddy, the individual plugs of rice can be seen, there are people actually at work in this image, there are palms in the paddy and there's a beautiful banana grove at the top right of this image. Presumably the banana grove is at the bottom of the valiey.

This image leaves me curious as to how they get the water to irrigate throughout the entire system.

On a scale of one to ten this image rates a ten from me.

I live near one, here in the Philippines it rains a lot even in summer (and Indonesia, where Bali is, is one of our neighbors by sea and really near so I expect the conditions there to be the same or similar), so every week or so the plants have a fresh supply of water. Rice paddies are landscaped as such to make sure water doesn't fall out and remains in the paddies - look at the green lining the crops!

Yup, here rice is really cheap because almost every town is near a big bunch of rice paddies - in fact some rice paddies exist in large gaps between hospitals and schools/gas stations/refreshment stalls - and we eat it everyday as a replacement for bread and pasta, which is what many other countries eat for their carbohydrates, because bread and pasta is more expensive, and here in the Philippines our economy isn't that good.

Yeah good luck with that.

You'll need some modeling skills, just saying.

So, there’s no irrigation? All the water in the paddies is from rain?

Is most of the Phillipines as beautiful and lush as this?

Yes. At one point I wanted to make a park where the landscaping is just like that, but like Alex said, its hard. And I'm just too lazy. It sucks.
